You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
With my P, when I'm logged in using this website all has previously been fine and dandy. Without being logged in it has always slowed my macbook to a dribble and had the fans going like a jet about to take off. But lately even when logged in it's melting it. Activity monitor shows a jump from circa 10% to 60% of Chrome's energy impact when I open a new STW tab (with others previously used left open) and Chrome's CPU usage jumps from about 10% to 40%+ too.
Close STW down and give it a minute and the fans stop, numbers return to normal and sanity is returned.
It's the only website I visit that does this.
You been fiddling under the bonnet again?
Just an email to the tech team with exactly the same issue.
Chrome is a memory and resource hog. Do you see the same when using Safari?
chrome isn't a hog as such, it just uses memory that is going spare, and the OS is in control of how much it gets. just like IE/Edge/Mozilla/Safari do.
it'll be all the javascript stuff that insists on being run. and this page is somewhat heavier for one reason or another.
Oh god, don't be encouraging people to use Safari!
It's fine for me here on a 12-year old laptop. Does it do it in an incognito window? I was having a similar issue and it turned out to be a plugin (ABP) causing it.
There's a help icon bottom left corner of the site, if you hit that there's a form you can fill in to submit a ticket.
running fine on chrome here
