Mrs LMTTM had gotten into SUPing over the last couple of years and I’m looking at an inflatable SUP as a birthday present for her.

Any pointers as to where to buy from, brands etc?

She is 5’ on the dot so I’m guessing(?) that has a bearing on board length?

All pointers will be most appreciated.

Cheers,

Mark

plenty of threads on this. I've been SUPing for 10 years or so now, for an inflatable I have Blue Fin Cruise 10'8" from Amazon (deal of the day now and again for cheapness). I'd buy again if I needed another one.

Girl I dated for a wee while struggled with the weight lifting the Blue Fin to and from the water. She now has a Decathlon one which is an inch thinner but made the weight better for her to carry about

What's your budget? And where does she go SUPing (sea, surf, lake, river, whitewater??) and what does she do? Yoga, potter around or journeys or surf?

Budget?

And what will you think she'll do with it? Float around 100m from the launch spot for 30mins, have dog or child on the front, paddle a couple of miles along loch/cannal/harbour for a pub lunch and back, overnight camp, yoga, a bit of surfing in smaller waves, even white water on rivers.

More info needed....

*99% do the floating 100m or less from their start point as a relaxing leisure pursuit. If that's her and it will never get any more ambitious and it is in fact a glorified lilo, tbh I'd be swayed by price, availability and colour at the usual outdoor sport outlets.

We have two JP Australia boards. They are grand although we have nothing to compare with.

Width is more important than length for a small person so they aren't having to lean out miles to do their stroke. 30" might be a good compromise.

Also if she's light might be worth looking for a 5" thick board rather than a 6". Less windage and probably lighter to carry.

Longer for touring, shorter for messing about. Pointy for touring, blunt for messing about.
