Hate doing your tax return and/or book-keeping? My missus will do it, she's been a freelance accounts/book-keeping and tax whiz for years. Probably cheaper than an accountant and will happily talk for hours about bikes (or anything else) if you want.

Dm me if your books are a mess.

Good friend of mine works for the CNC Police. They are recruiting and you don't need any specific qualifications. 8 locations around the UK. Good pay and pension. Not the usual type of Policing.

I applied for one of the CNC jobs, but got knocked back for "not meeting the entry requirements", though as far as I could tell I did?
They also ask for a lot of historical info, though fair enough as they're giving you a gun.

Lovely idea.

Hi, I'm Ted and I have a document imaging bureau!

We've been operating since about 1995 and specialise in document archiving and data extraction from scanned images.

We're a small business and as such can accommodate most requirements.
Last year we had a team onsite at a large law firm creating a digital Will bank from the 125,000 wills they hold at various locations around the UK (might be of interest to you @NJC).

We're still open for business and can collect/deliver documents throughout the UK.
Website is Https://www.target media.net">targetmedia.net if anyone needs more info.

This is an awesome idea.

My usual line of work making bespoke pieces for the event and exhibition industry dried up at the beginning of Feb.

Mate and I have now gone old school and are offering our services once again to the general public. Anything from fitted/bespoke furniture, kitchen fitting and parquet flooring through to carports, roofing and even saunas. No job too small, no job too big.

Fortunately / unfortunately for you I'm based in Munich, Germany.

Still, great idea, Chipps!

I run Barefaced Audio, designing, manufacturing and selling some of the best* guitar and bass speaker cabs in the world. It was all going pretty well (especially as Rage Against The Machine was about to start a world tour with a Barefaced rig behind Timmy C) until every gig and tour on the planet got cancelled!

But if you’re stuck at home and want to enjoy your sound a lot more, then buy a cab from us - they don’t need to be cranked to rehearsal/gig volume to sound good. Thankfully some of our models are nice and small and they all look cool!

*No really, they’re that good!

Minicams engineer / rigger / operator.

Anything from Go_pro's in as helicopter, fixed rigs in ambulances and cars, to studio/location based stuff with PTZ cameras and a full gallery (or a full gallery, miniaturized and put in a suitcase!).

Or if you want to make it sound overpaid and easy, £400 a day and I'll fit your go-pro to your bike for you and swap cards/batteries. You have to provide the go-pro and pay mileage.

Also a Chemical / Process Engineer, but that's even less likely to find work on here!

Hi everyone,
I have a little business 'Hut Builder', normally build glamping huts of various shapes and sizes, had a quiet week and built a mini shepherd's hut for my children and have been selling and delivering a few of them across the UK now. A few of the bigger jobs have been postponed/cancelled so these little ones are paying the bills for now. Also do woodburner installations.

I'm on Instagram/facebook @hutbuilderuk if anyone does that sort of thing, or I've got a website www.hutbuilder.co.uk which needs a bit of an update (can't quite justify getting someone to do it I'm afraid so stuck with my limited wordpress skills for now).

Thanks, Neil

We are sending fresh beer off to be bottled and those wanting mixed cases i highly recomend waiting 10 days so we can get you a full mix of LPA, Pride of the Valley, Watercress Best, Hampshire Rose, Pure Gold and Russian Winter.

@singletrackmind are you still recommending waiting, or are you ready to roll with these now? im trying to get a few mates to order some too.

cheers

I've just ordered mine @singletrackmind 🙂 Case of stout and a mixed case, no fuss on what's in the mix and no urgency on delivery. Was a long while ago but did a guided ride across the plain once where we finished at the brewery. Good times 🙂

Coffee next I think, running out this month.

Also like to express thanks to STW for the thread. It's a nice idea and hopefully works to channel a bit more money to independent businesses who need the support.

Edited to add, that mini shepherds hut looks ace 🙂

Well , I am rather tired this evening.
6 pallets of new stock turned up around lunchtime then it was all very fast and furious to get cases boxed up , labelled and dispacthed asap
Approx 20 orders out the door so far, and another 10 or so to go.
Huge thank you to all who have ordered , and persevered with our shonky ordering platform and cranky payment engine.
Please get in touch if you have any issues, or are still waiting but I expect all orders to be delivered by tuesday.
NBT .- Your order got switched to a full mix of 24 .
I really hope you get as much enjoyment from drinking them as I do making the stuff. Constructive critisms always welcome
Might be OOS on Hampshire Rose soon but that is due to be replenished in 10 days time also

erictwinge - there are a few on my Instagram/facebook pages if you do either of those - @hutbuilderuk though I don't think there are many interior ones. It's got a ply ceiling, plasterboard walls and painted OSB floor. To keep within budget on this one so customer is decorating herself (not my favourite job anyway!) and I've been promised some interior piccies once she gets her things in there and an invitation to the grand post-lockdown opening 🙂

Thanks for asking

In the highly unlikely event any of you need chip timing services (if we're ever able to race again), that's what I went self-employed in last year thinking it'd be a great idea. My stupidity and lack of foresight knows no bounds...

Cover anything and everything from small fun runs, up to 12-day long endurance triathlons. The last job I covered before all this was Hit The North, pretty sure Jason would vouch for me (and Chipps didn't complain that his lap count/time was wrong...)

So if weirdly that's something you need, drop me an email at matt@timingmonkey.co.uk and mention Singletrack.

@singletrackmind - I just tried to place an order for a mixed case for my brother's birthday.

There was only an option for the billing address, with nothing for a different delivery address.

Is this possible? I would like the beer delivered to him, rather than to my home (billing) address, but this doesn't seem possible.

I'll try to contact you via your website too, in case you don't see this for a while.

@singletrackmind - had a gold after a ride last night. Hit the spot. Lovely. I’ll be ordering another case when you’ve got them back in stock. It’s taking pride of place on my beer shelf next to Wye Valley HPA which is my local go-to summer ale.

@singletrackmind my mixed crate came yesterday, already made a dent in them, very nice. unfortunately ive got a shit palate so i have to look on your site for what notes im sposed to be getting 😀
i wish i could taste the chocolates and caramels, im just a bit crap like that. i do know that i like them tho, and im sure ill be ordering some more. i think you must have been OOS with the russian winters, id like to try that one in the next crate i think.

dont laugh, but i like the feel of the labels on your bottles too, very tactile 😀

@singletrackmind, just ordered a case (00252) of Rose, is it possible to do that 50/50 Rose and LPA? I don't really like dark or too hoppy so didn't want a full mixed case, but a mix of a couple will be ideal. No worries if too much hassle.

Hi Jon . Yes If like golden beers then I would recomend a 4 x 3 mix of the L P A , Hampshire Rose and Pure Gold. Hopefully the PG and HR will be back into stock next Wed so possibly will be dispatched wed or Thur.
Gettting bottling slots at contract bottlers , and trying to second guess sales over a 2 month window is the issue. All contract bottlers are working flat out as pretty much every brewery has seen the take home market soar , maybe as much as 10x normal levels and most of this is packaged .
Pride of the Valley will go O O S this week, Russian already is, both booked in for Bottling late June.
Brewing a new beer called Trip Hazard soon , a N E I P A which will be hazy , 5.4%abv and available in cans. Just woring on label design and recipe but not today. today I will be riding my bike then out on the water if the wind picks up this afternoon
Market test.- Would anyone consider a mixed case of 24 Beers and Ciders ? We stock Lilleys Cider and it sells really well in our little shop. Touch more expensive as we buy it in as opposed to making it , around £59 delivered if I can work out how the hell to get it on Squarespace and make a clicky button that includes delivery , avoiding the problematic adding shipping option that seems to have a mind of its own , then working out a new stw discount structure . Do-able but maybe not by me.

That would be brilliant if that's possible; yep I knew the HR was OOS so no worries with waiting for a bit.

Thanks

I'll hop onto this merry bandwagon (thanks for the idea!).

I co-run this band of merry and talented misfits - Creatomatic | Digital Agency.

WordPress websites, branding and graphics clever custom bits of development - that's our bag.

We do a lot of good work with holiday let businesses (albeit they're having a torrid old time of it right now), and have also built some cool tools for estate agents that hooks their property feeds up to the likes of RightMove and Zoopla.

So far (touches wood) we've managed to keep everybody busy and kept going without having to furlough anyone, hopefully that can continue a while longer.

Case of beers arrived today, cheers @singletrackmind

It might be a cheeky but there were only 11 in the case.....just checking if this was deliberate (which I'd understand, for the hassles of splitting and repacking cases) or not.

No probs either way, certainly looking forward to a cold one later.

John V. I am extreamly sorry. We have a clueless lady who does the packing and this sort of doo lally non sense stupidity is right up her street. I wrote on your order 4 x hr, 4 x pg, 4 x lpa in B I G letters and she still failed
I will sort something out

Gunsmas. If i can i will throw in some extras, it might have been dispatched already, christ nows you deserve it

Still getting good footfall and a higher spend per head. By keeping the draught beer price low people are happy to spend on cider, wine and gin to average out the orders. Or to smooth the waters with the significant other at home when they walk in the door with 36 pints

hey, don't be, certainly don't waste money on another courier yet. I'll def be ordering again, we can sort it out then.

Will be casting eye over the ciders as well - despite previous tricky experiences with genuine west country producers (as a callow youth, cricket tour to Bath and Somerset was an....experience)

May be sacrilege, but do you have any alcohol free / low alcohol ciders.....my boy's only 14 but does enjoy them

Gah nearly ordered more beer on Friday as Watercress Best was back in stock and (thinking that two orders in month was a bit much) decided to hold off. Code has now expired (though the beer is excellent so that won't stop me ordering once we are out).

Code expired you say !! Utter disaster , something must be done
To avoid anyone going thirsty I had a chat with the sales guy about a shiney new code , fortunatly he agreed we could do something .
June only for now , will re-visit in 4 weeks time
Not quite as attractive but still a tasty 20% off the bottles . Shipping 1 - 2 cases is an additional £8.99. Minimum spend to trigger code is £50 ,or 2 x 12 bottles . STW20 .

Pride of the Valley due back 17th Jue , and Russian Winter 23rd ish . Brand new NEIPA in Cans ' Trip Hazard ' due the same week . 5.5% abbv , 440ml . £2.50 a can pre discount .
Happy to take orders and put on hold waiting for full mixed cases. The clicky BIN button on the mixed cases will double the shipping for 2 x 12's . Bill Gates here will try a work around tomrrow.
Thanks to all who have bought some beer , it really does help keep things ticking over .
No alcohol cider ? no chance , although the 4% Mango tastes of pureed Mango and no alcohol whatsoever

@singletrackmind after missing the delivery on Friday while we were out on our daily exercise, I received my case yesterday. Thankyou very much for the quick delivery and a huge thanks for the extras. Had a pure gold last night and yes, definitely worth it. Will probably try one of the others tonight. Thanks again, really appreciated.

Just posting a shout-out for @Binners following me contacting him via this thread... He has designed, printed and framed a stunning picture for an anniversary present.

From a few holiday snaps he managed to create something quite stunning which I had the pleasure of collecting from him last week and spending a pleasant 30 minutes chatting all things bikes with him in the sunshine (socially distant of course).

Highly recommended, thanks mate.

Cheers @chrisbucko. It was an absolute pleasure to do that for you. I hope you don't mind me sharing the image. Chris sent me his holiday pics, which looked bloody great, so I distilled it all down into this image of himself and his wife kayaking up the Yukon River in Canada.

This was printed at 80 x 60cm and looks great all framed up at that scale (even if I do say so myself)

Which is just well as the usual day job has been history since March and won't be back any time soon. No furlough for us freelancers either so this has literally been a lifeline.

I'm working my way through a list and still have a couple to do for folk on here. So I can't thank the STW community enough. And thanks again to Chipps for putting this thread up. I've really enjoyed doing illustrations for you all as you're an adventurous lot, so I've had loads of really nice locations to draw up, and added to my list of places I need to go

@singletrackmind I must say I am loving your beer. I find myself getting quite fussy on bottled beers and yours is superb. Just ordering more. Cheers!

Hi All,

I'm a bit late to the STW lockdown party but better late than never...!

Like Singletrack I'm based in "sunny" Calderfornia and offer MTB guiding and skills instruction as Whoosh Mountain Biking. Skills courses are generally here in Hebden Bridge or at Lee Quarry and I have routes all over the North of England including the Peak, Dales, Lakes, Lancashire Moors, and elsewhere in Yorkshire.

One-to-ones have been back for a few weeks and I'm now able to take bookings for small groups so please get in touch if you want to set something up.

Thanks for the great thread idea Chipps, cheers,

We make bicycle cogs and other nice bits and bobs right here in sunny (at the minute) County Durham. We'll do one-offs as well.

We are, hopefully, about to set up a whole new thing soon - just waiting to relocate, but if I can pop a wee link in here that would be smashing! My job has shuddered to an unnatural conclusion so we are heading north to set up a mini glamping site just a couple of miles from Lochness (providing our sale and purchase all go through over the next few weeks).

As well as glamping we are going to be offering commercial photography services throughout the Highlands, photography workshops and tours plus very probably historical/archaeological tours of Northern Scotland too. We won't be fully operational this side of Spring 2021 I don't think, other than commercial photography and 1:1 workshops/photography lessons but if any of that sounds interesting keep an eye on our website.

We are in that excited and scared phase just now!

If you could add in mtb guiding, escorted hill walks, supported whwiad or 2 or 3 trips plus some cultural or local stuffi think you could do ok bit late for 2020 but gives ypu months to get the rest of the site sorted.
Good luck, keep us all informed

Great thread and I've already contacted a couple of people about their skills - next on the list is Binners as I love the idea of the prints and the moments they capture.

Unfortunately my day to day work can't really offer anything interesting but, I enjoy tinkering with car stereos and installing aftermarket kit.

If anybody wants any advice on stereos please feel free to message me - not expecting anything for it.

Maybe a bit late now that summer is almost over, but the recent "quiet camping" thread got me thinking. I have lovely flat secluded field in the middle of the Black Mountains which I sometimes let small groups camp on. I always offer exclusive use for whoever books it first, no matter on group size. There are a pair of compost loos, a cold shower :-), a large fire pit, and a small river with a pool to (almost) swim in. It is a 1 km walk across fields to a ruined abbey and 2 pubs. We are 5 miles from the Black Mountains Cycle Center and have fantastic MTB riding straight from the door. I am happy to help point people to the best trails in the area and can provide gpx routes if wanted. We are a dark sky area and absolute silence is guaranteed at night (though you may have to share the field with some curious sheep!). Just to be clear, there is zero mobile signal or wifi! Despite that we are only 10 miles from the motorway system and about 45 minutes from the Severn Bridge. I charge £6 pppn. All dates are available for the rest of year, apart from the upcoming Bank Holiday. Just drop me a PM on this forum and I will try and help.

Field located almost dead center of this pic

Can you give a postcode please?

I'm on the ceiling at the moment and need a break, your offering might be a more sensible alternative to wild camping. It sounds like heaven right now.

Loving your work there @flannol!

And thank you, everyone, for your kind words about my 'work' (it never feels like 'work')

Can I just say again a huge thank you to everyone who's commissioned big prints. I feel flattered and honoured that you've trusted me to draw up such personal images. I've absolutely loved doing them. I've had some fantastic subject matter. You're an interesting and discerning lot.

I'll share this one with you because sometimes you get an absolute gift. I was supplied with a few photos, one of which was of the couple jumping up in the air, which just had to be the focal point. The rest is a geographical mash-up, which seem to have become the most popular type of illustration. I do love a bit of geographical vandalism, me 🙂

So in this image, we've got the couple (this was a present for his better half), the Newlands Corner (Surrey Wildlife Trust) View, Brussels Grand Place, the New York Skyline, The Eiffel Tower, a cricket match, a mountain biker (obviously!), a bee and a detectorist. Oh... and a flamingo. I loved doing this. I think its a joyous thing. A celebration of life. Printed at 1 metre wide and framed it looks fantastic.
