You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I have never tried a sewing machine, like ever in my life until a few days ago.
I was given two sewing machines a Singer Futura 2001 and a Singer Slant O Matic and box of bits.
But the fave at the moment is the Futura 2001.

I have made a "Complete Life Organiser" for my rough book, pens and phone (freestyle).
and a veshmeshok.

This sewing lark is great fun.... could be a new hobby 😉
What next 🙂
I thought there be a tractor somewhere.....
I'm sure a design will include a tractor somehow in the future 😉
Sewing Bee next 🙂
Tool roll
Cap/casquette
Musette
Workshop apron
Great ideas 🙂
Musette, defo.
But the veshmeshok is great. But do use a Russian army surplus one on the bike.
I would like to get back into sewing on a machine as I was really good at it at school but back then it wasn’t something a lad did really. I was very precise and careful and made my projects really well.
Struggling to think what I would make but this has got my thinking cap on.
I’ve never come across a veshmeshok before, but I’ve just had a look at one and I want it desperately!
@countzero
I use one on the bike and tough as old boots.

Or go full pikey and use an old pillow case, 2m of cord and two plastic balls from the draughts guiness cans.
Balls in the corner and tied off with a constrictor knot.
The pillow case version (as per my pix) is so small I use it for shopping, just stuff it in your pocket.
Excellent bags... dont know why they are not known more.
I'm planning on making a special bike version. Goretex, more pockets and special back zip just in case you need fast access, phone pouch, reflective strips and mayby a bottle holder.
With the genuine russian version, it will take your weight from a tree, you can even filter water with it.
Excellent bag.
I inherited my nan's 50s Singer a few years ago. Luckily it's got the motor upgrade, so a bit easier to use.
Great bit of kit, and I've done loads of sewing.
It's a bit limiting with only being able to do a straight stitch, but you learn to work around it.
Pencil cases or small zipped bags were one of the first things I was taught to make. Thinking that it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to make some framebags. Start with a top tube bag or a seat pack. Or just one of those straps to secure an inner tube to your down tube. Cordura is relatively inexpensive and freely available.
