I have this tool. It came from a box of bits belonging to a chap that died. I have no idea what it is for. Its marked morrill new york in small letters stamped into one handle and apex cast in in big letters on the inside of the other
Squeeze the handles a sprin loaded square plunger moves up a couple of mm to conect with an "anvil" part squarely
The thumbwheel on the back moves the "anvil" bit back and forward
The thumbwheel on the other side that is diagonal moves a rod up and down towards the chamfered edge of the anvil but meets it at around a 15 degree angle. I am completely baffled as to what it is. Sorry for the blurry pics - I can take some more if anyone wants more detail. I really haven't a clue!

It's a saw tooth tool.

...is (i believe) the correct answer. My dad used to use one of those to set the teeth on his saws while sharpening then in the days defore power tools and disposable, teflon coated hand saws.

Mowgli - would you like the tool? Or just my eternal undying gratitude?

The latter will be fine ta 😉

My Dad has one which I don't think has been used in decades. From the days when stuff was kept going rather than replaced for £4.99 from Screwfix...

Sell it on eBay and put the money towards a new camera that focuses.

If it was a manual focus then I would agree with you, however it's an automatic focus.

Too close to the subject - it won't focus that close - only about 20cm away from the thing when I took the pic.

In this case you may be right, but the camera had the same problems on Julie's walking weekend.

Momentary gratitude? Trouble is you get second prize as you were not first with the answer 😉
