as per title - anyone on here have a house they rent out for holiday lettings?
and if so, do you use an agency, or have you gone the DIY route?
we're thinking of taking the plunge and doing a bit of research into our options
Ive been doing some research for a mate Im helping put planning application in for a couple of holiday cabins.
I think the Agencies I spoke to indicated something like 10-15 booking s a year on average. (though a booking may be 3 days, or a week, or anything in between). You might do as well or even better if you work the market hard - magazine classifieds etc, and you can buy a lot of marketing for the 20% + VAT that the agencies want to charge. They also charge a fixed setup fee of about £100-200 per property.
There's no hard and fast rule, it depends how you want to develop your business, how much effort you want to put in or how easy a life you want.
