Saw an immense goose fly-over the other day above Dalmeny, really made me want to get out to Loch Leven and see all 10,000 of them in one place, but I believe they leave early AM?
Planning a wee jaunt from Kirkliston in the early hours to get to Loch Leven for sunrise, do a lap of the loch on the cycle path (graaaaaaavel!) then maybe drop into Kinross for coffee then wander up Gallowhill Road to see if I can spot the Waxwings.
Is this plan a go-er? Or do the geese just wander off in dribs and drabs? I'm hoping for a spectacle of 10,000 geese all taking off at once in one great honking... 😀
We're directly under the morning flight path for geese out this way, I'd say you've already missed the majority of the south-going traffic for the year. Still some stragglers but the biggest groups seem to go a few weeks ago
Hmm, dunno, a dainty little murmuration or 10,000 muckle great noisy waterfowl?
I like my nature displays with substance!
Legend: really? Thought they were there until April? Bugger.

I suspect Legend is talking about the migration, there are certainly big **** off numbers of Pinkies at Loch Leven resident over the winter. I'd say your plan was sound, but maybe dependent on weather on the day.
Ah I didn't realise you had holiday home geese your way. Yeah ours take over a load of the fields nearby (looks like they are growing geese at times) then disappear off
Loch Leven ain't in Fife😀
Oops! Neither it is, think I've been told off about that before actually...
Sounds worth a little adventure anyway, just a shame I can't do it for another two weeks...
