I think the less said about this last weekend the better.

Going to have to just suck the nutrients out of old beer cloths to hit weight target this week,

I think the OP's experience shows with the weigh in schedule and his point about a "bad week/weekend/day"

Better late than never.

0.8lb down - which I'm pleasantly surprised by, as life events led to the plan being put on hold for the last week or so.

Some advice fellow lossers, from a man who spent all day yesterday with a dirty, dirty hangover.

Don't think that as you're going out for calorie rich beers that it's a good idea to smash out a threshold session on the turbo before you go out. It's the third time I've done this and the third time I've felt like death the morning after. I didn't even drink that much FFS.

I did a ramp test last night to punish myself for feeling hungover all day. I was sick in my garage. Safe to say that yesterday was not one of my finest.

I've been struggling with balancing a heavy training schedule with losing weight it going to have to be slow and steady.

Except for yesterday where I managed to lose 9lb in one day, I wouldn't recommend it as having immodium resistant trots for 18 hours solid isn't particularly pleasant.

Aaaand I'm back in the game! The play closed on Saturday so I now have a life again, bad news is that for the past two or three weeks I've been completely undisciplined, good news is that the damage isn't too bad, I've snuck back up to 242. That still means that my targets are a mile out, but hey ho, let's see what we can do about sorting it all out. 🙂

Genuinely under 80kg for the first time in a few years. It's not MUCH under that and a big cooked breakfast, a pie and a pint for lunch and a curry for dinner would probably ruin it BUT it's something.

Kudos to lots of the big loswers on here, average is now 8.1LB. Also struggling with balancing heavy training schedule. Have not achieved balance; training (running) going to plan but weight stubbornly static, -1 lb total. Replenishing every calorie burned it seems. Should I consider drastic experiement...anyone ever done 5:2 with 7-10 hours of training?
Running on a low cal day would be good for fat-burning endurance, right?

Yes it would. Fasted morning exercise is a good fat burner.

Slow week.

Last night was not vintage on the food front. A huge plate of chilli, chocolate, cheese and more chocolate. No exercise either.

Hoping to offset it with a lunch time run and football tonight.

Yeah, not a great week this week. I think tomorrow's unofficial interim weigh-in results will be disappointing.

I balanced a weekend's eating and drinking with a monster ride over Dartmoor in the snow. I'm quite pleased with keeping my weight unchanged.

Been off work this week, using up holidays really. Had a lot of "bad" days (still around 2600 kcal, so not a disaster), and a couple of good riding days.

Monday did 2 hours solid (and fast) off road to see how I'm going to find H.T.N.

Went for my first 100km in years yesterday, fell short at 85km but burnt a tonne of kcals. Next time I'll have it! 🙂

I'm barely half a kg down since Friday, but hopefully it'll pick up again when I'm back at work and commuting every day.

Grenosteve - last year, I rode loads, but couldn't shift the weight, which is what prompted me to radically change my diet, going low carb. I'm keeping up the riding, but dropped loads of weight - 26lbs so far this year. Ridden 2 100km rides so far this year, with a few more planned in the next week.

I wasn't wrong 😥

85.8kg, up from 84.6kg last week. No surprise, but a bit worse than expected. Grr.

*fights the urge to email jonv*

Anyway despite my adventures in Schnitzel earlier in the week, seems dropping calories for the following days helped mitigate things.

1lb lost.

Sounds stupid, but I have found it easier to lose weight just via diet this time. As opposed to training/exercising at the same time.

Not a great week this week and next week will involve a lot of Austrian beer, Schnitzel and general mountainside stodge which does not bode well.

I'm hoping 7 hours skiing per day plus a couple of run will offset things to a degree. We'll see.

Lost a lb this week, which I'm happy with as I did no exercise and had 3 days where I either had a drink or ate loads (valentine's day). The evenings are getting lighter, as am I, so hopefully more riding is just around the corner!

Is it weigh day this Friday? I'm within 3lbs of my overall goal, having lost 2st 1lb since we started. I've just thrown away a large pile of XL clothes that look tent-like, and have been shopping for M & L ones instead.

I'm a bit out of the loop this week, as my dad passed away on Saturday, and I'm up in Norfolk helping mum. Next week sees the beginning of the sustainable phase. Ive already decided that biscuits and cakes have long been my downfall and don't really feature in my future.

I had to change my target, Dan, as looked like I would hit it relatively easy. Not as quickly as yourself mind.

p.s Did see the bit about your dad, but rubbish at this sort of thing, so not sure what to say. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear the Dantsw13 - not the bit about the cakes and biscuits, although that is sad too.

Yes, weigh in this friday. If you want to restate your targets, having smashed them in 2 months then you can, but you might be at your target anyway. Your shout.

Hoping for a good one this week. Had to have a damaged tooth pulled this morning, worth another thread on it's own, so will be on soup and soft stuff for 72 hours myself. Might give just the boost I need.

Thanks everyone - there are no right words, but I really appreciate the support. It was the end of a long battle with Parkinson's related ailments. In the end, I'm glad it was quick, both for him and mum. She has been a trooper with him for ages, at least now she has been released to enjoy her retirement whilst healthy, and can do all the things with her grandkids she hasn't been able to for years due circumstances. This Sunday would have been his birthday, which he shared with my son. Mum is coming back to mine for the weekend- I'm sure there'll be tears, but positive looking forward.

Seeing him ill before 70 was a real health wake-up call to me, and a big kick to get fit.

TOJV - I'm not going to be home to weigh until Saturday, so will be a little late with the email if that's ok? Managed to avoid all the cakes & biscuits at my mums, so fingers crossed! I've been weighing daily at home, so feeling a bit twitchy away from the scales.

Another 2lb down and definitely fitter, managed 12.67 km on the exercise bike in 30mins tonight vs 9.1km early Jan. Trousers feel baggy, long way to go and still technically obese, but BMI down from 32.5 to 30.3. I'm pleased I've sustained it this long.

Sort of dreading tomorrow's weigh in. I stupidly weighed myself whilst dehydrated after a 5k run, and thought 'ooooo, that's good'. I'm sure now I've returned to normal hydration levels a couple of days later that I haven't lost much at all, but we'll see. The good thing is that I can run 5k without collapsing. 😀

I'm not sure what has happened during the last 2 weeks, the diet has been good, exercise up, but I have gained 0.5 of a kilo. Mind you what I haven't mentioned is that beer and wine have also featured!

I was not looking forward to this weigh in after a week away on holiday over half term which consisted of little exercise and lots of beer and meat and snacks. Not surprised to see I'd put weight on today. Put 4lb back on of the 9lb I'd lost! Back on it!

Hi everyone; weigh in day today

usual form; email with your stw name and weight in lbs in the subject line

theotherjonv 199lbs

etc.

I can recommend traumatic infected tooth removal and a diet of entirely mashed vegetables and soup as a regime. 2.5lbs lost and would have been more if it weren't for ice cream slipping down so nicely.....

Forgot this morning, will weigh in tomorrow. I fear the only weight I will have lost will be the weight of the stitches coming out my thumb in half an hour. Which may not offset two weeks being unable to hold handlebars or do much else apart from walk.

Little nervous about today. I'm currently sat in a ski resort in Austria and have basically lived on cheese and pork for a week. I'll try and find some scales later.

Down to 107kg (236lbs) from 118.6kg in Jan (261.5lbs). 🙂

Had a slow start to Feb, concentrating more on getting fitter and faster than loosing weight, but back on weight loss (and maintaining fitness).

I definitely need new clothes now, the pair of jeans I leave at work have the belt done up so tight the front bulges out making it look like I sport a semi all day! 😆

Somehow, I'm not really sure how, a shade over 3lb off, and I haven't even had an empty this morning!

That's 14st 9lb on my scales, the lightest I've been since about last June, when I'd been biking a lot, so bodes well being at that this early in the year. Target for end of March is 14st, 9lb in 5 weeks should be doable, but I'm goiong to have to up the exercise I think as all the Xmas bloat must be gone by now.

YGM Jon - Down to 185 lbs.

Cut out "sugar in hot drinks" two weeks ago and it made a difference very quickly. I was probable eating 14 teaspoons of sugar a day in tea alone.

I'm keeping track of my weight daily in an Excel worksheet and although the line is predictably spikey, it's good to see the overall downward trend.

Im back on the waggon this week. Been a rubbish couple of months personally which has meant no biking and lots of late night take aways and rushed meals.

Re-setting my goals based on this mornings weigh-in and going for a ride in the sunshine.

Exactly the same as a fortnight ago, which was the same as the fortnight before.

I think I may have plateaued. Unless my scale is broken.

Time for a re-think I suppose.

Down a couple of lbs. Hit my first landmark of a stone off which is nice.

Shoulder OP on 28th, well if I can shift this stinking cold I've had all week, so imagine the loss is going to slow up for a bit.

Hmm. Lost a gnats since last week (85.4kg from 85.6), but that's after 84.6 at the last official weigh in the week before 🙁

I'm not surprised TBH, diet the last week was terrible, this week it's been better but not brilliant. Ah well, play the long game...

Static against 2 weeks ago.

NOt quite sure how to feel about it - not really disappointed as I thought it would be worse. Last two weeks I've really lost the discipline I had through Jan.

And I think I know what it is. Since end Jan, been back on the booze. And it seems I'm a 1-0/all or nothing type. Too many (say, 5 out of 7 nights/week) having a drink - not silly amounts - but too regular.

But seems to do a couple of things:-
I snack (packet of crisps or some peanuts with a glass of wine/beer
I seem to lose discipline - "well I'm having a glass of wine, so why not have some crisps" type of thing

So decided to do Modest March and cut the booze. Should be a kickstart

Still the same weight as last time, so 9ib off overall.

I'm not too fussed though as it was my birthday, and a weekend away which involved

a) Beer
b) Pies
c) Burgers
d) More beer
e) Wine
f) Cheese
g) Pizza
h) More beer

All in all, not putting everything back on again was a positive

Back on the wagon again, and just off out on the bike now

9lbs to go. Now I'm exercising, I'm hoping that will steadily drop off.
