That means 16 'fallers' but of those two didn't even give weigh-in 1 info.
We will feast on the fallen.

20 lbs lost since New Years Eve - cut out bread, sweets and alcohol; 4 lbs lost in the last week

A manwich 😳

Well done Y'all! The fact my wife is doing it with me - armed with planners and spreadsheets - certainly is helping me. I've just been reading up on low carb endurance cycling, which sounds interesting. I'll be giving it a go in San Francisco next week. The consensus is endurance is fine, as your body is burning it's own fat, but sprint power will be down. As expected I guess.
Just thinking out loud, but would it be possible to slightly adjust targets?
If it's too much trouble, then don't worry about it, but as things stand, due to doing quite well so far, I have 8 weeks to lose 4lbs. Not saying that's easy, but could probably do with setting a slightly harder goal.
By all means, just make it clear what you want to revise to in an email to me with your STW name and I'll amend the target.
Poor weekend for me.
Exercised well, did my longest ever run Saturday morning and a solid 45 minute turbo blast on Sunday night.
Sadly, the bit in between was messy. Beers and lots of crisp followed by a huge meal Saturday night, Sunday was a BIG breakfast followed by grazing all day. However, I have a reasonably sensible week ahead planned, albeit Saturday has potential to be heavy. Also giving blood on Thursday so that's a pound gone for a start.
Had a slightly bad (by choice) weekend, Friday, Sat and Sun I've done 2400ish kcals a day, but did ride for an hour on sat morning.
Enjoyed a pub burger, half a big pizza, toasted teacakes for breakfasts, some fish and chips, a 'few' JD and (diet)cokes and a some sugary treats. 🙂
Still 111.9 kg this morning, so not put anything on sine Friday, but enjoyed the well deserved treats after smashing it in January.
Back on it for Feb now, and looking to get very close to 100kg by the end of March.
Binners, that pie looks amazing! 😯
Spekkie, I'd try and cut the sugar right down, have sugar free fizzy drinks and lean to enjoy tea/coffee without sugar.
By all means, just make it clear what you want to revise to in an email to me with your STW name and I'll amend the target.
Sent.
Now watch me miss all the new targets 😀
No Pie update Binners?
At Monday circuits the instructor had her dreaded fat scales 😥
Body fat down to 17%, water holding steady, maintained muscle mass.
So I'm 20lbs down, maintained water and muscle mass!! 17% body fat drops me into the top end of "fitness active"!!
Pie update:
After avoiding pastry for a month, the cow pie was worth the wait. As amazing as ever, and even though I opted for mash instead of chips, I still felt like I'd eaten a sofa, and lapsed into a food coma.
Back on the wagon again today, and just off out for another big walk. If I can get Mrs Binners out of Lakeland Plastics. And that's a big if! 😀
Put a bit of weight back on.. (still, it was a stupid initial amount to lose)
Belt still 2 notches tighter
Not riding much so gonna try this Zwift malarky
I opted for mash instead of chips,
You're dead to me.
Away with at a mates Friday and Saturday which may have involved alcohol, takeaways and hog roasts, domestic duties Sunday, and a stinking head cold today that has postponed the planned catch up ride.
Still, with my nose pouring snot like Niagara Falls in the rainy season, I figure that there should be some weight loss going on, somehow.
Not part of the club, but lost 12lb (down from 13st 7lb) in 3 weeks by stopping drinking, cutting out processed crap and generally eating a bit less
Jamie - MemberI opted for mash instead of chips,

Thats easy for you to say. You don't have to live in this pit of self-loathing. I just don't know who I am any more 😥
Got my good lady to measure me and since the beginning of Chub club, I've lost 1.5cms round my neck, 7cms round my waist and 4cm from my hips. I had noticed this, as most of the fancy pants clothes* that wouldn't fit properly on new year's Eve, the event that spured me to join Chub club, now do. So I'm starting to see positive results over and above the on paper weight loss.
* I admit to being a bit of a clothes tart. I blame it on being a mod in my youth.
January Strava climbing challenge done! 😀
That's one of my new year goals done, next is sub 100kg and riding to the coast (130km).
Seem to be holding steady now, despite same reduced cals & exercise
I think I've entered .....
..The Plateau Zone!!
Great work guys... keep it up !
GrenoSteve - nice work!
Great fat shedding results chub club!
I've had the lurgy for a fortnight which came with a free 12 day headache for no extra charge. Back on the eating wagon this week, hoping to get the exercise back on track in the next couple of days. Looking back at my sickness record in work, it seems I'm always sick in January, so I'll take it on the chin and take solace from the fact that it's now February.
Happy eating and moving STW CC 🙂
Yay! Now into week 5 of my 5:2 regime, and as predicted a page or two back it has become 'normalised' - the first couple of weeks were strange but 'interesting strange' because you could convince yourself that hunger was doing you good.
The next 2 are hard because you're still finding times when you are hungry but the novelty's worn off.
We're now in the phase where this is the 'new normal' so it's neither strange nor hard, it just 'is'.
Yay! Now into week 5 of my 5:2 regime,
So is this one of the weeks you can eat out of the 5?
With 5:2, you after aren't hungry either the morning after a fast, when you think you might wake ravenous!
In all seriousness, I tried the 5:2 once after the Michael 'I Like Money' Mosely doc. It think I took the eat what you want on the off days a little bit too literally, so didn't really work.
ive fallen off. Going well but over the last 2 days ive eaten about 6 mini chocolate rolls.
gutted
Wifey away tonight, so it's the traditional excuse for an Indian takeaway and film of my choice.
So, instead of my usual calorie-dense curry, I'm going to go for tandoori chicken instead. Quite looking forward to it to be honest 🙂
6 mini chocolate rolls. I hope you enjoyed them.
That's 780 calories. Common number used for calories deficit for a 1lb loss is 3500.
So that'll make less than a 1/4lb difference to your result as long as you don't suddenly go 'ah **** it' and then have six more tomorrow.
It's no biggie. Get over it.
It's quite sad how I look forward to some chocolate biscuits on a Saturday.
Is that a euphemism?
I was disappointed, though not surprised at such little loss last week, but dropped 3-4lb since, mainly through reduced calorie intake, less bread/carbs and sugar. Not mentally low either, and I seem to be able to function perfectly normally.
Is that a euphemism?
Fell off the wagon yesterday celebrating the end of dry January, but back on it today.
Looks like I have gone from 2lb a week drop to 1lb. To be expected.
My shoulder surgery date has come through for the 28th of this month. So that's going to be tricky, as lots of sitting about coming up it seems 😐
Turbo trainer Jamie!
Bit of a wobble today. Basically I gave blood and then found myself faced with a table of biscuits and crisps. 6 custard creams and a bag of cheese and onion later and I think I'll be doing without any tea.
Had my first fish and chips of the year tonight. The thought and smell of it was epic, the eating was, well, greasy. 🙁 I'm sure fish and chips used to be amazing!
Always the same for me. Love the smell and the idea - especially if I'm really hungry. But five mins after not being able to finish what I bought, I start to feel rather queasy 🙁
Looks like I have gone from 2lb a week drop to 1lb. To be expected.
I reckon 4+ weeks in is the hardest, all slows down a bit
Feb will be hard work!
I can only do a half portion of fish & chip these days, it's just grease overload otherwise.
Turbo trainer Jamie!
I'm thinking that way. Be a bit annoying not being able to put hands on bars. Tempted to join a local gym and just use their gym bikes for a bit.
In the warm, and get to surreptitiously look at ladies bottoms.*
*This is the joke, please don't white knight me.
Friday weigh in, and another lb gone. Happy with that, slow and steady, especially as this week has been pretty normal food wise, so shows the loss is sustainable.
I reckon 4+ weeks in is the hardest, all slows down a bit
I've somehow lost 2.5lbs in the last week after losing 4 in the whole of Jan. I've reverted back to 'normal' eating in that I've had a bit of meat & bread after being 95% strict vegan & very carb conscious for a month - still pretty diety, though. Stomach has definitely shrunk!!
I suspect a significant change in eating habits (the stuff you eat, not quantity) can give your body a good kick to make it change how well it processes food - kinda like switching excersise regimes between long & steady to intense intervals.
1lb down this week.
Looking at my belly, I am thinking I might need to lower my end target by 5lbs, as looks like a bit to go still.
Will see how things look in a month or so and reassess.
for the few that have sent me weigh ins this week, it's not a weigh in week. Others, please don't overload my Inbox!!!
By all means weigh yourselves and post up here, but next official, on the s/sheet one is next week, 10th.
for the few that have sent me weigh ins this week, it's not a weigh in week. Others, please don't overload my Inbox!!!
Heh...what a bunch of idiots!
😳
Well I've lost another half kilo in a week despite it being a bit... pizza, beer, gin and burger-y
I've just been to Greggs and had.....
A tuna butty
A little part of me just died 🙁
😆I've just been to Greggs and had.....A tuna butty
A little part of me just [s]died[/s] just got thinner
I appear to have found the pound I lost last week.
Stinking cold this week, no exercise, stupidly binge eating after shitty days at work.... The
Well as those of us from the more enlightened parts of the country know, it's Friday night so this is the law....
But not this year. I feel culturally adrift. A stranger in my own land 😥
I just had a lasagne with salad. Salad!
You're dead to me
Where did you get salad from anyway? I didn't think there was any left in the country? Have you got a stash?
That makes two of us. I am also dead to me.
Salad!
Let it out Jamie. You're amongst friends...
88.8kg this morning! This is a happy day as the scales now start with a 13...
Motivation for a good week and hopefully a loss by Friday..
(although will be drinking tonight and haven't touched a drop so far this year)
Saturday is an off-day. So watching Arsenal suck balls while having a hotdog.
On the strength of this performance you'll soon be mainlining cake!
Arsenal suck balls
The Gummers?

The comfort eating was horrendous after Cesc scored.
🙁
First proper ride today since getting the all clear from the quacks/ cough going away.
28 miles on the CX bike, mostly off road, a bit of falling off on the muddy bits. Found it hard because I'm so out of shape but enjoyed it nevertheless. Me and the better half had a bit of a blow out on Friday and had a few drinks but we were straight back on it Saturday.
Going to try a run tomorrow to see if I can get in shape fit the Lincoln 10k
Good work! Something is better than nowt!
Just ran a half marathon to delete some chub!
I managed to get out both days this weekend, but made up for it by eating my body weight in...
Bombay Mix.
Damn, that is good stuff! Where has it been all my life?!?
Of course, now that I have been introduced to it, I shall have to try to forget it. 🙁
wasn't a weigh in of course but I just fancied getting on the scales this am (not expecting a result as was out yesterday and it's the weekend anyway) - and was about 1.5lb down on the last official weigh in.
More notably - belts have gone from needing a notch out last year to being a notch out but a bit loose to a notch in but with a bit of a cinch to back to that notch without squeezing. Next step will be the same notch I was on before the depression - even if it does need a bit of a breath in for now 😉
It is working, isn't it!!
Seems to be
Just an ultra marathon not a sprint!
Definately slowed down, but my initial drop was so fast it had to!
I went for a long road ride at the weekend, still with no carbs. 90km with plenty of hills, and all i took on board was zero cal vitamin water. Still felt good at the end and punched out a pb up the last climb.
When I'm at home Ive found sticking to my 800kcal low carbs very simple. My job makes it harder (longhaul airline) due to night flights and timezone changes, but I've settled into a work routine of not sticking to 800, but staying low carb and not snacking. If I get bored hungry I have a cup of coffee!
14:10 down from 16:4 this morning. 14 is the goal (I was 13:7 during officer training 20 years ago when I was super fit, so never going to be a super light roadie)
Sounds similar to me, but trying to stick to 1500 cals and light on Carbs
It's all slowed down but dropped from15st 7 to 14st now in 5 weeks
I think the next couple of months should be slow & steady
Last two weeks have been a dietary car crash for me culminating in a weekend of excess due to it being my 8 year olds birthday on Saturday.....
Saturday - Trampolining (the kids, not me) then Maccy D's for lunch, Frankie & Benny's for dinner, Birthday cake, sweets,
Sunday - A trip to the cinema with a bucket of popcorn and a bucket of Coke, Pizza Hut, more birthday cake, more sweets.
I'm still having sugar hallucinations.
This weeks weigh-in will not go well.
Good job i'm focusing on the long term picture.
I have lost 2lbs this week.
Which, given I had planned for 1lb loss for 17 out of the next 20 weeks, gives me a small buffer I guess.
Good job i'm focusing on the long term picture.
This. I lost a few pounds when we first started Chub Club, and I haven't lost a thing since.
Indeed, I hope it is because I have been rebuilding muscle as well, seeing as I haven't exactly been indulging myself.
However, it is discouraging when the scales don't move for a while.
Long term. I keep having to remind myself. Long term.
Is building muscle while losing fat a real thing? (or is it just something we tell ourselves when we stop losing weight?)
It is possible. My circuits Instructor has been bringing her "fat scales" for the last few weeks. This week I have lost 1lb, but my fat is down from 17% to 16.5, and my muscle mass is up slightly. Since starting the Chub Club I've managed to maintain muscle mass & water content, so lost mainly fat.
The thing I find useful when I feel a wobble coming on is to ask myself "do I want that biscuit more than I want to get fitter/thinner?"
I think the fact that my diet had quick results gave me the boost needed to keep going.
It's also working really well for my wife who was a big comfort eater. Having read the book on sugar, I think it was a bit of an epiphany.
Just slid under 110kg. 109.9 🙂
Is it strange that I weigh myself every day? I've just told myself not to be disappointed if it goes up, as long as the trend is down. So far I've stayed the same for a few days, but not gone up.
Is it strange that I weigh myself every day?
I'd say more counterproductive than strange.
