I need to get a topological survey done of a local area. About 1km square max. It's for a charitable foundation so budget is next to nothing. I am reasonably happy to do it myself as have the GIS software and skills but I need a GNSS unit to help me capture the ground data. Any ideas on something dead cheap that could give a reasonable degree of accuracy, dare I say sub-metre. I've looked at the Leica Zeno range but they are very very spendy. I may be onto a hiding to nothing here but any ideas appreciated.
Rent something.
It's what I do.
£250+vat for a weeks hire of a gnss rover.
Optical, speedy, Sccs all hire out kit that come with a sim card connected to a correction network. Expect 10mm positioning and 20mm height accuracy.
Just be aware that in dense woodland and close to buildings the unit will struggle and a conventional total station will be required.
I use leica and topcon units and the software to collect data is fairly simple.
