I'm about 1/2 way through Talking to My Daughter About the Economy: A Brief History of Capitalism by Yanis Varoufakis
It's a truly excellent introduction to modern economics and capitalism - about as much of a page turner as a non-fiction book can get. It's been described as Marx Light, and the bright red cover is no coincidence, but don't let that put you off.
What are you reading?
I've got Gene Krantz's (Gemini and Apollo flight director) book waiting for me to finish my current read (Dark Matter - fiction).

Just finished and a must read. In the current climate especially so 🙁
Onto this one now

Hard to put down, including sections on cognitive dissonance blame. I'm going to read bounce next.
Do No Harm by Henry Marsh.
Oldie but a goldie: South by Ernest Shackleton.
The Signal and the Noise
and most things by Mark Kurlansky
Tunnel Of Love ..Martin Hardy.
Football, Fighting & Failure: Newcastle United After The Entertainers .
It's waiting on the coffee table for me ..as it has been for the last three weeks ..
I'm just waiting for the optimum moment to throw myself into depression ...😭
A Shepard's Life, James Rebanks. Simply wonderful writing about life on a sheep farm in the Lake District, awesome book.
Faster, Michael Hutchinson. Just the right side of geeky book about how the best bike riders in the world try to go faster.
The Big Short, Michael Lewis. Amazing book on how the financial crash happened.
Just taken delivery of this
![Retromania: Pop Culture's Addiction to its Own Past by [Reynolds, Simon]](https://images-eu.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51%2Bd2pHbnFL.jpg)
Not started yet. Not sure I could spend my leisure time reading about economics, but then I'm sure many wouldn't be interested in my book 😀
Some great suggestions that I would second, and a few from me. I've really enjoyed all of these:
- Red notice
- Not much of an engineer
- Skunkworks
- Do no harm
- Chickenhawk
- Jigsaw man (yes I know, and if you know then great, but if you don't know it's an incredible read, then you can know afterwards. Hell of a meta plot twist)
- Millionaire teacher
- Random walk down wall street
- Catching a serial killer
- Signal and the noise
- Soccernomics
Trying to think of what others I've really enjoyed - will have to check the Kindle....
- Beware of the dog - Brian Moore's autobiography.

I read the Gene Kranz one last year, It is very good.
This is good too.

Wings on my sleeve was excellent!
Almost finished 5 Giants. An excellent book, if not a little heavy going at 700 odd pages (plus references). Most interesting bit (for me) was the difference between rhetoric and factual record for the Thatcher / Major governments (they said one thing and actually did the opposite in many cases).

The Beatles vol1 by Lewisohn. Fantastic read for anyone with an interest in Fab Four, or indeed the UK music biz late 50's, early 60's.
