My lad has asked for a stunt scooter for his upcoming birthday. Can the hive mind recommend a cheapish one that will scratch an itch for him? Have tried to talk him out of one in favour of some bike kit, but he's got his heart set on one and I truly have no idea where to start...

Some of the westbeach ones at Argos are on sale.

We just paid £60 for the £100 model.

Seems to be a decent quality scooter.

Is he short/tall/average for his age? The bar height and width varies quite a lot.

MGP do some nice ones. Approx 80 quid gets you something upgradable (yes you will) and entirely good enough to start off.

My ten year old is massively into scooting and the kit these days is bloody brilliant.

Can you at least detach the steerer and turn it into a skateboard, Back to the Future style? I despair seeing kids trying to do tricks on scooters in skate parks. They need skateboards or BMXs!

Cheers chaps will have a look, it's going to be skateboarding isn't it? Looking for the best bearings all over again...

MGP used to be the go to stunt scooter. Jnr has one in the garage that he's been thinking of selling if you don't want to go for a brand new one, leaves more money for his bike kit!
