Out on a club road ride and sitting in the wheels at the back when we come to a set of road works.  We pause at the red light and as it goes green and set of I feel an enormous stinging pain at the top of my head, wtf I'm thinking then suddenly am convinced I've been stung by a wasp.

It was agony, and I was forced into an effort to get to the front to ask the ride leader to stop for me (which the group did).  At this point the little ****er is still stinging me, I can feel him having multiple goes at my scalp.  I whisk off my helmet, see the little stripy bastard drop to the ground but too late!

I'm sitting at home with a very lumpy head and a feeling like an intense ice cream headache.

Little shit.

That is all , I needed to get it out there 😀

All the downsides of pudding but with no pudding. 🙁

I think I'd rather get dropped by the group and get the little bastard out quicker.

I got the same a few weeks ago, flying down hill, it seemed to take an age of being constantly stung to get stopped and take my helmet off!!!

Always on a downhill!

I got stung on the forehead this summer. I ended up on steroids and antibiotics after presenting at the walk in centre looking like a klingon.

Hope yours heals quick.

Matt

And I've always thought every helmet should have a fly net covering every vent. Seems a no brainer. My old Rudy Project helmet had one.

Guess it's easy enough just to line the helmet yourself.

Anyway heal up. It'll itch a lot soon so don't scratch at it.

I  use a bandana, keeps them off my baldy scalp.

Could have been worse, one time riding my motorcycle, full face helmet I had one of the stingy blighters crawling over my face & trying to get up my nostril!

Both myself & my m8 have been had on the face this year, though I’ve managed one on my lip & one above the eye @ different times. Swelled up ridiculously, so we both looked like I’d taken a beating. I do hate the stripey barstewards

Another reason why helmets are dangerous.  If you didn't have a helmet on to trap the poor innocent beastie you wouldn't have been stung.

Poor guy! That’s really not cricket.

Wasp sting is alkaline? So add vinegar to the sting next time to neutralise it.

I once got stung by a wasp on my head, I nearly passed out and thought i was a gonner.  A friends son died of a reaction to a wasp sting, he did not know he had the allergic reaction till it was too late, he was mid 40s.

It is a specifically intense pain in your head imo. You’ll now need a theraputic use exemption for the Swinley race/meet up.

😉
