Its a long shot but my niece who is studying in Aberdeen has been let down on her accommodation at the very last minute. So called friend let the room to someone else grrrrr.

Anyway cutting to the chase, she needs somewhere to stay urgently as she arrives on Sunday with now nowhere to stay.

Can anyone recommend a place, one bedroom apartment or something temporary until she gets sorted?

Any recommendations welcome but be sensible people?

http://www.spareroom.co.uk/ - best place to look.

airbnb.com - if looking for something short term.

Call accommodation services at the uni, they'll maybe be able to help, even if it's just B&Bs they have a good rate with for emergencies.

Spareroom is good as is gumtree.

Avoid any of the private student halls type places (unite is one) they are awful and ridiculously expensive

Quite likely not, they've made a total cock of it this year it seems and Aberdeen's just not an easy place to find accomodation. Worth a try though.

Does she have transport? It's far from ideal but when we're doing events in Aberdeen we tend not to stay there, prices and availability are far better just outside the city.

this ^ Wife's running chum is dealing with the fallout of this she is soooo stressed about it. She had to put up some in hotels they are getting free meals and transport to and from uni and still they moan. Not ideal but, free food and travel. The Uni has cocked up big time.

We're planning to build a new block of halls on our campus in Edinburgh. I keep saying we should put them in Aberdeen instead, we'll be rich!1!! And our students can live in boxes.

If he's in King's Buildings he's almost as close to Aberdeen as he is to Edinburgh Uni 😉

Ok the latest update, still no Accomadation so it seems that a hotel for the first night is booked!
Apparently the uni has cocked up and the first year students are saying that they are in the second year just to get a year. What a mess!
Soooo, she really is desperate - come on guys, need a little help here.

Struggling to think of anywhere to advise to look. Aberdeen can be a real nightmare for accommodation.

There are rarely spare flats, rooms to rent are generally advertised on Gumtree, myroommate type sites.
