3 part fibreglass paddle, the upper part is stuck cannot budge it.  It must have got sand in it from yesterday.

I’ve tried, pouring water down it as much as possible, heating with a hair dryer and having 2 boys handing off the end whilst I left them off the floor.  Apart from scratching sounds it’s not moving

have read lubricant is not a great idea, but I can’t think what else to do to make it move.  Seems a common problem

last resort is probably clamp it into a bench and give it a pull.  Reasonable chance of destroying it if I did that

Wild ideas, no guarantee. But I’m bored whilst waiting for a midday tennis match./heat exhaustion event.

silicone or Teflon lube

can you put it in very cold water for a while,   and try undoing it in cold water as it might help the sand move, also it’s bleeding boiling here so will it have swollen a bit and the cold help it resize ?

What sometime works with fishing poles is to have 2 people pulling, one from each end and a 3rd tapping the offending joint.

That's what I would do^

And remove all the clamps to make sure I wasn't just catching or just giving you that little extra wiggle room

I can’t quite picture what you are doing, but pulling things apart can often make things worse, as they constrict under tension. Can you push from the joint? Like with a handlebar grip - pulling makes it worse, but pushing works.

Apologies, if that’s the worst suggestion ever.

Nope won’t push in either.  I’m trying to remove handle part so I can put it back in its bag.   Currently it’s jammed at wife’s height and will not budge.

I haven’t tried cold, I’ll give it a go.  Then maybe wd40.  It went together perfectly fine in the morning, so it’s crud from sea / beach that got in during the session that’s preventing it from coming apart again.

With 2 part windsurf masts the usual way is for one person at each end turning against the other while the person in the middle boings it up and down. But that's with a springy £900 5 metre carbon fibre glorified fishing rod. Not sure the paddle will have the same degree of boing.

Seakayak Paddles we usually have one person on each end and pour hot water on the joint.

The person in the middle flexes the paddle.<!--more-->

Well appear to have knackered it.  twisting with 2 people and boy 1 tapping was getting it moving until the glued in T handle gave way.  its no where near fully out.

presume I can reglue the handle but with that amount of torque going through it I can't see it coming out.

will be dropping the manufacturer a line to see if they can help but I think its new paddle time 🙁

everything just seems to cockup at the moment

Ive had paddles stuck in the past, bits of micro grit are usually the problem. Ive also had an issue with heat expansion but only only very hot sunny days. Salt water is a bit sticky and that has been enought to cause trouble but not what you seem to be experiencing

It seems unlikely now but I would try putting it in the freezer or wrapping some ice around it, the continue pulling as before

If all else fails then you should be able to cut the stuck bit off then carefully cut through the outer without going into the inner spigot. Then peel off the short bit of outer to reveal the spigot

Youll obviously lose some length but should still have a functioning paddle. It's also possible to split the jammed outer without cutting it off - youd then have to glass fibre a band around to repair it but again it's straightforward if you can be bothered. A dremmle or such like would be handy here

Regluing the handle no problem
