At the moment i work away from home a lot, its my first year of being married so still the honeymoon period, id like to spend more time at home, its hard finding a job that is steady and ok pay, iv allways done manual work, decorating, mechanical engineer/pipe fitting, groundworks and arborist/grounds keeping, also private security (gigs etc and doorwork).

Any ideas on a total change as i dnt want to be falling to pieces by the time im 30, a few people have mentioned working with naughty kids or being A copper due to my presance and attitude, but where would i start???

police probably not hiring due to cuts tbh. Depending on what you expect to earn, NHS is always local and some interesting jobs, wether nursing (auxillary with studying for staff grade), ECA for ambulance etc?

Mate of mine is an installation sparky and works away on big contracts as a subcontractor. He works roughly 6-8 months of the year and has the rest of the time off between contracts taking it easy. If he worked all year round he would pull around 40 grand a but in reality he only needs to earn half that to live on. If he pulls enough in over a six month period then its feet up for the next six months.

Find something you enjoy doing which you can also earn a living on. Also think is there a demand in your area for that expertise?
