1990/1991, black guy, quite rocky sound, bit like Lenny Kravitz but not him, possibly one hit wonder !!!!!!!!!!
The band Living Colour?
Seal?
No, not Seal.
Eagle Eye Cherry?
Or Living Colour - British I think.
Roachford, Cuddly toy?
Roachford?
Milli?
Vanilli?
Chesney Hawkes.
Eddie Grant?
Terence Trent Darby ?
Terence Trent Darby ?
Or him.
Chesney Hawkes
Ah,the most elusive bird of prey out there.
Believed to be the one and only...
IGMC.
Dr Phibes maybe - reminded of them we they popped up in the radio the other night
he/they were bothering the indie charts around 90/91
Sidney Youngblood?
Terence Trent Darcy was my first thought too. Read a piece on him in the grauniad recently. He's about to (or already has) release(d) an album. He really did go quite weird once the fame died down.

Without question (you're just wrong on the year) it is:
Give us some words from the song
and you lot up ^^^ stop posting pics of Lenny Henry
Finally Quaye
McAlmont and Butler - Yes
I have to applaud those even guessing based on the limited info. Name a black guy from 90/91 - that narrows it down a bit eh ? Is the year even correct ? 🙂
First thought was Roachford, but the word 'shit' wasn't in the description.
What about Dan Reed Network? (not 100% sure he was black)
Def 1990/91. It was more rocky, a bit like Kravitz, which was unusual at the time. Got played alot at Wormleighton Young Farmers discos at the time if that help at all.
Ben Harper?
Not a bloke, but Skunk Anansie were about then, she was a bit baldy and belted out a tune. Enough to confuse a few people at the time, but then it was a simpler age...
After listening numerous times i'm going to call Roachford Cuddly Toy. Ta all - been buggin me for weeks. Bit before 1990 but YFC not that cutting edge at the time.
A.R Kane? - bit earlier than 90/91, but not so much earlier to be still be getting an airing at a Young Farmers disco. Generally a bit more Shoe-gaze-y than Kravitz though
{edit - ah - I see you've got it}
