So how much do I need to worry about lead in old paint, stripping paint with a heat gun and sanding later on?

Do I need a respirator(if so which one, cheaper the better).

Or is it ok to just do it out doors, is that enough ventilation?

How do you identify lead paint?

I had doors dip stripped by a local company. Much easier than any of the alternatives. Not cheap mind, was about £50/door. Though that did include a sanded finish, which was about £10 of the cost.

I got some of the 3M lead test kits, very useful.

In the end decided not to strip the paint work, gave it a wet sand and then covered in primer.

Hmmm, I’ve been scraping some old layers of paint from around the outside of our windows. Possibly without an appropriate mask.
I’m too male to be pregnant though
