...what do I need to know 😊

Years of paint at least one coat from us.

I’ve got a gas canister burner and have tested a patch, comes off nice and easily.

Before I kill myself with inhaling fumes as I’ve no idea how old the paint is underneath ( lead paint !?!?)
Is it safe ? well ventilated as it’s outside, do I need a mask ??

Once door is stripped
Sand the door
Undercoat
Paint colour of choice

Thanks in advance

Afair, lead paint won't fume until over 600f? ish. So a hot air gun on a low setting outside would probably be okay. You should probably get a cartridge filter mask with a an organic vapour cartridge if you want to use heat, even if you are outside.
Better still use an environmentally friendly stripper with a N100 particukate mask.

Needs stripping as it has about 80yrs of paint and no way to get a nice finish on the door.

I redo ours every few years. It was custom made from Pine and the knots are a PITA, knot sealer does bugger all and the sun cooks it and the oil lifts the paint.

So last year I stripped it with a hot air gun, then drilled out every single knot and filled the hole with two part expoxy and put knot sealer over that...
