Who made it to the end of episode 2 ?
We did not!
A shame as in the past I liked this series.
We have enjoyed it previously but not started this one yet. Better not look in on this thread untill we've watched so I don't see any spoilers.
It was always going to be difficult to compress such a long book with a large part of the story driven by in-game ‘screenshots’. TBH it’s my least favourite of the books anyway
inevitably it left huge gaps in the narrative so yes, not the best
I've read some of the books & the book of this was a chore.Watched it knowing it might disappoint and it was Ok in places but overall meh.
We’re watching this at the moment. I’ve got the book but haven’t read it as everyone said it was badly edited and not all that good.
Same, just watched the last one although we'd considered bailing after the first couple. Against my better judgement I stuck with it in the hope it would get better. It didn't. I'd really enjoyed previous series, but this was a bit garbage.
We quite enjoyed it although the plot was a bit impenetrable and in the end I didn't care.
The general will they won't they is getting a bit predictable though. And very slightly tedious.
It's quite good generally. I like the overall vibe and the characters are interesting
Although a PI doing a follow in a battered old Land Rover can get in the sea
On the other hand I barely managed one episode of Shetland this time round. Madame persevered but had to wear headphones. Utter dross
I waded through the first half of the first episode before giving up on all the tedious characters.
Just get into bed you two and stop being so mardy, or find someone else.
Watched Moonflower murders instead which is excellent.
And now try listening to it via the audiobook version where you don't have the ability to easily skip the chunks of twitter type rubbish, god it was hard work and I'm really not sure how I got to the end of it. I share with my mum and she most certainly did NOT make it to the end.

Us too. Was good easy detective telly that you could enjoy trying to work out the perp.
Magpie murders previously was also good
Well i enjoyed it and thought they did a grand job of turning a book that , let's be honest, many people struggled with (my dad gave up), into a 4 part series that covered the main plot points without really making it obvious how much plot had been simply been cut out
Edit
I’ve got to Ep 4, really enjoyed all the previous series, this one is a bit more of a struggle, but it’s far better than Misomer Murders! I haven’t read any of the books, I started on Strike because I knew both leads from previous series they’d been in, and I like their characters in Strike, the ‘will they, won’t they’ is just riffing off of ‘Moonlighting’ anyway, and another detective series with Nathan Fillion in which I can’t remember the name of; it’s a common trope.
but it’s far better than Misomer Murders!
Sacrilege! 😉
I found the first episode really dull and couldn't get into it but thought it improved on the way to episode 4. Don't think I could justify the time reading the book though.
Utter durdge.
When I listened to the audiobook I thought it'd be a tough translation to TV and I think it's proved it.
I don't really 'get' the world they were investigation and struggle to take it and the people in it seriously. So ultimately if they died....couldn't really summon up the enthusiasm to care very much.
It did leave me wondering if JK Rowling knows anything about this world; are there actually gaming/cosplay communities of obsessives similar to this or is this a slightly crude bunch of assumptions conjured up by someone a bit clueless.

This. It felt like an adaptation by someone who didn't really get it, of a book by someone who didn't really get it, played by actors who didn't really get it.
