Asking on behalf of a female friend (honest!)...
Short of un-following someone, or making every ride private, is there a way of stopping email notifications being sent to certain people when she rides?
Apparently a guy she knows (a follower) is getting an email each time she uploads a ride to Strava and she wants the emails stopped.
(I can offer no advice because even though I have all notifications switched on, I've never received emails when other people upload rides...I only get them for kudos or comments)
Or is there another app somewhere which uses Strava API to generate these emails?
Worth a read
Looks as though this needs to be disabled at the "Stalkers" end.
But they could always block that follower if they are concerned.
Every now & then I get a "X has been out working up a sweat; give them some kudos" - or something along those lines but it's nothing like every ride
Not sure I understand the problem, though. She knows him and doesn't mind him following her but just doesn't like him getting the emails - ??

Yeah, there's a complicated back story involving dating two guys at the same time (who both use Strava)
BTW: I'm not one of the two guys involved!

That.
Boy A does not know about Boy B, and vice versa. Neither use Strava much so are not likely to notice (she thinks!) that she is out riding with the other boy. She thinks emails will trigger curiosity so they may log into Strava and realise what is going on...
I think shes being naïve...
(BTW: we're talking about people in their forties...not dopey teenagers)
If they are "stalking" her then the emails are surely irrelevant, they'll see her activities (steady now!) in their feed anyway. The emails seem to be pretty random. I rarely see any even though I follow many folk.
Anyway - better the two guys find out.
Where do I sign up for the relationship updates? It sounds like a soap opera in the making and I want to stalk the Strava stalking activities...
Ahhh the old caught out by Strava moment 🙂
I reckon easiest way is to set up another account but it’s not really stalkIng.
I'm gonna suggest she hacks into their respective Strava accounts and switch off the notifications...thatll be the best in the long run surely??
I only get those emails if i havent uploaded any activities in a few days . as if Strava is reminding me to log on more often.........
upload regularly and no emails .

I have a simpler suggestion.

Which one got the KOM, Boy A or Boy B? We need to know this!
This is why one should be an inside boyfriend.
Assuming this is real, surely not uploading the suspicious rides to Strava would be the easy solution!!
Assuming this is real...
Oh yes, this is very real.
And even more amusingly, I have a suspicion that a previous Boy B is an occasional poster on STW...it's a small world we live in!
An even easier option would be to make the individual, suspicious rides private (granted, I'm not sure that prevents email notifications being issued)
She should just crack on and not worry about it...
Hiding in plain sight and all that.
This is smashing, she cares more about having her rides logged on Strava than either of them.
