At the top of our road is a junction called 'Dangerous Corner'.

But of course, you'd need to go a long way to beat those crazy scots.

To the OP: google the original name for Threadneedle Street. I would tell you but I suspect I'd fall foul of the swear filter.

F*cking in Austria
http://www.harisingh.com/newsDidYouKnowWTF.htm

Apparently it amuses English tourists, so they steal the sign.

(and amuses web monkeys to remove the ability to post pic with swear word in the url)

There is an Ince St School in Wigan. For brothers and sisters I assume.

But in Norfolk there is a village called Stiffkey but the local kids always paint out the k on the sign.

If that Canal Street sign is from the one in Manchester, then the amended version is a more accurate description.

From what i recall, there used to be a few places called 'grope xxxx lane'. Allegedly derives from medieval times when sexual terms and terms for body parts weren't as offensive as they are today. Needless to say it was usually where the 'ladies of negotiable affection' plied their trade...

Lots of towns had them, but most have coyly been re-named Love St, Lovers Lane or similar.

I quite like 'Stinking Wynd' in Culross in Fife.

I also like all the ambivalent place names in Galloway - Ae? Urr... Mabie. And then to add to the ambivalence quite a few places have two names and the can't settle on which to use "Kippford or Scaur", "Crocketford or Nine Mile Bar"
