Anyone else a fan? Noticed the new series was live today. One episode in so far and loving it.
Probably another before bed 😂
Be careful binging. Only 7 today and the final 2 in July.
Stop it.......
Fair point Eddiebaby, but there's no way I'll stretch it out til July anyway. Obi Wan starts today to on Disney+ IIRC
But I wanna

Just rewatching S3 with the boy first
Watching tonight having re-watched the last season.
Two episodes in.... Good so far....
Speaking as someone who hasn't been a regular TV watcher since the mid-noughties (although an avid film watcher and collector) I thoroughly enjoyed the first three seasons of ST when it was recommended to me by a friend. Looking forward to this one.
Hopefully S4 will be better. S3 seemed a bit directionless, almost like it was just filler till whatever boss fight ending we get.
Going to do a youtube refresh before S4
Enjoying this a lot more than S3 so far
If only I could remember what happened in S3...
4 episodes in and it's been a little intense! 😎
Wow! That was quite an ending to this batch,July seems a long way away!
Quite a climax joining the dots and a real cliffhanger. We've loved it, though it's been a bit stressful for MrsL at times 😂
I'm not into horror at all but really liked the first 3 seasons...hope this isn't too 'horror' lol. We've not started watching yet, still trying to get over the Better Call Saul cliffhanger 😛
Watched the first episode last night. Jeez does it jump in tone in the last 5 minutes!!!!
I think it would certainly have been classed as horror in the 80s. Definitely more Nightmare on Elm Street than the Goonies, but still some nice 'Goonies' elements to it.
Just finished the last episode this evening (watched it over two days as too long for a single sitting).
Good, but somehow left me a little unsatisfied.
Too many characters and not enough plot would be how I would describe S4 in one sentence.
Quite nice to see Master of Puppets making an appearance, I remember buying that album!
Just finished watching it yesterday. It was fine, but an awful lot of time was spent by people explaining their heartfelt feelings towards one another.
After what felt like a few hours of listening to people droning on about their feelings I could kind of see where #1/Vecna/wassname was coming from.
Still, better than Star Trek.
Anyone else notice the mistake where 11 was called Millie in one scene? Surprised they didn't correct that.
I cannot believe how long the episodes are. Almost Lord of the Rings length.
Chapter 8 - Excellent. Taking a small break and on to chapter 9.
Didn't like the first episode, and that's all I've watched so far.
Will carry on though as I like the overall story, and heard good reports of S4 as a whole.
It's like watching paint dry.
Dull and forced
I bloomin' loved it 🙂
I thought Max was by far and away the best character in S4.
It was fine and better than Season 3, yes there was a bit too much going on with many characters running about separate storylines, but most of it came back in the last 2 episodes, the plot wasn't really that difficult to follow and pretty obvious in most storylines, i was expecting a bit of a bigger ending in terms of story and characters being killed off though.
Finished it over the weekend and I was a bit disappointed if I'm honest. Having separate story lines didn't really work for me, Having Will and Mike and the annoying surfer - the irony of including the most one dimensional character in a series about other dimensions? Surely an in-joke? Going on the dullest road trip seemed like it was just filler. The Russian story line just felt like a way of forcing the previous monsters back into a programme that otherwise is lacking in antagonists , and the "ending"? I know they're setting up season 5, but it just felt (after all that time) like a bit of a non event?
No doubt I'll watch Season 5, overall I still think it's great, but for all the hype and lengthy of the finale; it just felt like a set-up (in both senses of the phrase)

+1
Yep, didn't have the conciseness of the previous series...
The TWO DAYS LATER thing jarred with me. Surely all hell would've broken loose when the gates were opened? It all seemed a bit calm really
Yeah @Pook, I thought so as well. just a lame way to set-up the next season.
The bit that confused me was the US military guy and his pursuit of 11. The guy was pulling all sorts of moves, torturing, killing then in the end just kind of gave up.
On the other hand, I don't care what anyone else thinks, Eddie's guitar scene was amazing! Master of Puppets has always been one of my favourite songs (yeah, getting the 'I loved Master of Puppets before it became cool gatekeeper comment in there ;))
I loved it. Great entertainment and I think the different story lines and characters added to it.
I don't look at these things too deep and analyse them, just take them on face value and if it's entertaining thats good enough.
I wasn't expecting it to lead to a fifth series though I was expecting a big end of it all finale.

I thought S4 was the last series, but apparently not.....
until about a hour before the end, so did I until they started setting up for the next series.
squeezing the life out of a series seems to be the way now.
There was a good season about half the actual screen time in there. Needs 'The Boys' editing team on it...
Yeah, Series 5 will be the last one.
I've not started on S4 yet.
The whole family loved it in this house
Yeah, Series 5 will be the last one.
I wouldn't bet on it.

it was LONG wasn't it? the 'it's streaming so we can make each episode whatever length we like' really needs to be balanced against 'editing keeps the storytelling lean and keeps it engaging'
I was disappointed at the end. it doesn't really feel like theres any jeopardy in 11's fights with 1 and the fact that this season didn't really have a conclusion (they know 1's not 'dead') was a bit shit.
Yeah, Series 5 will be the last one.
I wouldn’t bet on it.
Well, I read an interview in SFX and that's what they were saying so... 🤷♂️
Season 5 will be the last with THESE CHARACTERS but there is going to be a Stranger Thingsverse spinoff apparently. Which isn't massively surprising.
My problem was I didn’t really care about the Russian or 11 story arcs. They were just padding. The most interesting bit was the story back in Hawkins.
Eddie was one of the interesting characters as well towards the end. A bit annoying at first but he came good.
Winona didn’t seem to add much to this series at all!

Stranger Things was originally commissioned to be like (can't think of the word) True Detective where each series had a completely different story and characters, but the first was so successful they did what they have and it's wearing thin now.
There’s an offshoot series coming up before season 5 I believe, so may be using the original idea for season 2 with a different plot and cast
Lol you guys think way too much and too deeply.
Between this and the Top Gun thread you seem to have forgotten it's just entertainment.
it’s just entertainment.
What does that even mean? The thread is just talking about the show. Are we doing something wrong?
A little bit. It's like being with 20 Barry Normans who have to analyse every single intricate detail to the nth degree, every moment of continuity, every plot detail, every attempt at putting characters in different scenarios and blending them together is then torn apart by the pack of wolves on stw who could obviously have done it better.

But if we enjoy it please leave us to it? We don't all have to be like you. I want to be like me.
who have to analyse every single intricate detail to the nth degree
have you read your own bike setup threads… 😉
I enjoyed it all but didn't understand why the last 2 episodes were so long. A lot could have been cut out.
Makes me what to re watch The Goonies.
There were a few obvious plot holes and some editing could have been a bit leaner i guess but still, no disappointment here, I thought the entire season was exceptional.
It's the first thing in ages that I've watched without doom-scrolling on my phone at the same time, and also the only thing (apart from Max Verstappen's antics in the F1) that has had me shouting out loud at the TV.
-**** YES IT'S METALLICA!
-HOPPERS GOT A ****ING SWORD!
I think the big scene in episode 7 was just incredible, beautifully shot as
Edit- shame those spoiler tags aren't inline
The only weakness of the series was (presumably Covid driven) the split team approach, it never works that well when you effectively have three completely separate plots running in tandem, even if you aim to bring it all together for the finale. There are a few too many unnecessary characters now.
Having said that, it was still excellently done, and while you kinda knew how the ending was going to play out, it was satisfying.
Just finished it, thought it was great TV, loved spotting all the Easter eggs.
Anyone else notice the mistake where 11 was called Millie in one scene? Surprised they didn’t correct that.
Perhaps a nod to the end of Star Wars when Han calls ‘Carrie’ (Fisher) rather than ‘Leia’ as they meet in the hanger after destroying the Death Star?
