I tried. I'm a fan of Winona, but I struggled with this.

Episode 5 for us, it's a great melange of genres, funny and gripping!

Just finished ep3

Fantastic tv. I was actually thinking recently how modern stuff doesn't have the feel of classics from my youth (goonies, lost boys, monster squad etc) but this is very close.

Super 8 was almost there but this is great stuff. Netflix has really raised the bar with so many great shows - House of Cards, Bloodlines, Better Call Saul. In fact I'd say TV is better than cinema these days. Such a high standard.

A bit ho hum to be honest. Nice retro feelings for me growing up in the 80s but it is all a bit mwah. Winona is proper whiney in it.

My first impression was that it was really good. Then I realized that it was designed to appeal to people like me, the writers cleverly mashed together a bunch of stuff from the 80s and 90s to try and appeal to their target audience. Now I feel used and dirty so I refuse to enjoy it on principle.

Exactly that. It felt like it had been generated by an algorithm designed to entice you in but was more packaging than content. Expect to see lots more of this sort of nonsense in the future 🙁

Who cares? If it's enjoyable, why does it matter how they wrote it?
Just get on with it.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the story did actually reach a conclusion. All to rare these days

I can't enjoy it if I know that they wrote it because they knew I'd enjoy it.

I enjoyed it.

There, I've said it.

I expect to be banned from STW shortly for that, and repeatedly riding a bike.

I enjoyed it. At least it only took 8 episodes to be slightly frustrated.
The music is rather good.

I had similar thoughts to Holst. Now I feel even more of lemming as these thoughts have already been posted. When will it all end?

Absolutely loved the 1st 3 episodes and the theme music is awesome. Cooling off a little now but that girl who plays 11 is brill. I dont care if it's designed to please I loved et and the x files so it's nice to have a decent Sci fi that combines those themes as most Sci fi on Netflix is utter tosh. Tried watching the 4400 the other day and nearly through the remote through the tele.

I've watched it on the back of this thread as well and thought it was good viewing with a brill soundtrack, roll on the 2nd series where i expect a certain character to make a comeback as i think they may be in "upside-down"

Finally finished it; really liked interweaving of teen slasher/government conspiracy/plucky kid adventure, along with the great 80s vibe and Winona's excellent performance.
Wishing that this T was still available:

Loved Stranger things. Not sure how much they've got to go on for another series. I'm guessing it will change slightly into something else, as a lot of it was the build up of the plot, but found the whole lot genuinely entertaining.

I loved but I am kid of the 80s and I don't really watch TV so have nothing really to compare it to but the wife watches loads and she rated it. Soundtrack is brilliant - vinyl copy on its way to me at the end of September.

I watched it all recently, I think I liked it but I'm not sure, might just be because everyone else is telling me it's so good

I think I'm with leffeboy on this one. Recommended by someone who likes the same sort of films as me. I think I've watched 4 eps. but it didn't really grip me.
Girl keeping her bra on took all the realism away for me. (joke!)

Anyone who didn't enjoy this probably lacks a soul*. Dustin was excellent as was Elle.

It's better than a lot of other stuff I have seen over the years.

*My overly opinionated opinion!
