Rode up Blackstone Edge (for them that know the area) & upon reaching the top i saw a black chap in white flowing robes walking down from the summit. Thought to myself "particularly inappropriate clothing for hill walking that" & carried on. Met a (white) bloke walking further up who said "there's loads of them up there".
Rode on thinking "who are 'them' " & reached the top of the climb (opposite the White House pub).
Lots of black folk (African?) wearing flowing white robes & sandals all gathered in a natural ampitheatre. Said hello & got a couple of funny looks, all seemed to be speaking an African language but what do i know?
Anyone with any knowledge of African cultural/religious ceremonies can shed light on what was happening?
I'm assuming they were Muslim 'cos i know white is a religious colour for the Islamic Faith but then, i don't know owt really.
(Can we all be nice please?)
It sounds to me like you've gone through a portal to another dimension which transported you back to ancient Egypt. Did you hit 88mph by any chance?

Religious officiates can be even worse than roadies, IME.
Haven't we had something like this before?
Blackstone Edge, just up the hill from Littleborough, just over the hill from Rishworth?
Perfectly normal. It'll be Rochdale councils annual meeting...
Actually its touching mirrors that is bad, very bad. Worse than Stargates anyday!

People have been doing odd things up on Blackstone Edge for many, many thousands of years - just seems to be one of those naturally freaky places that attracts robe-wearing types.
It's got a nice view and it's in walking distance of a main road and a pub, which is probably the criteria they used when originally picking a site for Stonehenge. Sacrificing can be thirsty business 🙂
