You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I've just been looking through my old LPs and noticed that I seem to have a large number with strange and probably drug-induced titles. Anyone beat these:
Weasels ripped my flesh (Zappa)
Hot Rats (Zappa)
U (Incredible String band)
The 5000 Spirits or the layers of the onion (ISB again)
The hangmans beautiful daughter (ISB)
Liquid Acrobat as regards the air (ISB)
Trout mask replica (Captain Beefheart)
Swordfish trombones (Tom Waits)
Be glad for the song has no ending (Mike Heron)
Myrrh (Robin willamson)
A glint at the Kindling (Robin Williamson)
Disraeli Gears (Cream)
Songs of love and hate (leonard Cohen)
There's more, but that'll do for now ....
Peter Gabriel's early work had some interesting titles. Sort of....
Some are self-consciously wacky, like MAD Colin from the Fast Show.
Have you heard of Abandoned Shopping Trolley Hotline by Gomez?
Ive heard that Gomez album name before. Seasick Steve - I started out with nothin' and I still got some of it left.
Beautiful Freak - Eels.
A crow left of the murder - Incubus.
Gutter Phenomenom - Everytime I Die.
I am a bird now - Antony and the Johnsons.
Pink Floyd's classic "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict"
WTF 😆
Aah, but that't a song title, not an album title. That would go on forever ....
Galactic Ass Creatures from Uranus - Detroit Grand Pubahs
google the album cover as well, although it's not particularly safe for work
Gong - Camembert Electrique.
Post-rock is the place for "weird" titles
Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven - Godspeed You Black Emperor
Born into Trouble as the Sparks Fly Upward - Silver Mount Zion
Beer and Sex and Chips and Gravy by the Macc Lads
swadey - i work with this fella (he works with audience response keypad systems). he has always had a really (and i mean frighteningly) dry sense of humour. calls himself Mutley. turns out he IS Mutley from the Macc lads, hence the sense of humour. he wrote most of their lyrics. took me 3 years to work this out, he's not embarrassed by it, just keeps it quiet!
Gong, Incredible String Band bloody hippies
I like
"Dig a hole in the substrate and tell me what you see" - Jim White
and anything by Stereolab -
"Cobra and Phases Group Play Voltage in the Milky night"
springs to mind.
Anything by An*l C*nt
Incredible String band - they were a 'guilty secret' when I was a mod and only supposed to like soul music (and only certain sorts of that!). Still like 'em, though (and Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Richard thompson and various other 60's survivors.
Oh what a lovely pie - Cosmic Psychos
How about:
Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips
or
Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust by Sigur Ros
The Sigur Ros one translates as "with a buzz in our ears we play endlessly"
Spaghettification - Chocolate Weasel
mrmichaelwright - you are honoured. "No more sheep til Buxton"....

Great truckin' songs of the renaissance - tism
gogol bordello
super taranta!
Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavoured Water - Limp Bizkit
Those are not my bongos - by Fu*k
also
Pardon my french - also by Fu*k
"The mysterious tale of how i shouted 'Wrong eyed Jesus!'" another classic title by Jim White. Very wordy fella, always interesting. When i bought that album, i ran right back to the record store to seek out his back catalogue, only to be told, that's it, it's a debut release - shocking! A man who sounds like he was born in a recording studio.
Hamburger 3: the night she returned. By Flesh-D-Vice
And I missed the Cosmic Psychos in Hobart last year cos I was at uni. Dig out the Mud Cows bid for some good tunes of theirs + Sprung Monkey. "I'm just the man who drank too much"
Ummagumma by Pink Floyd.
The Uplift Mofo Party Play by The Red Hot Chili Peppers.
This is the day...this is the hour...this is this! by Pop Will Eat Itself.

Mezzanine by Massive Attack,
Steal this Album by System of a Down,
Peloton by The Delgados

The new Half Man Half Biscuit album is called "CSI Ambleside". 😆
The Twelve Dreams of Dr Sardonicus by Spirit
Attack of the Grey Lantern by Mansun.
Dubnobasswithmyheadman by Underworld
People other than me recommending Sparklehorse and Jim White - wonderful! 🙂
