Apparently not supposed to be hitting us that hard here in southampton, but I had a shed door ripped off the kids left open, a single plank from the fence blown off across the road and the massive post holding up my drive gates snap so the gate is now at a funky angle.
Somehow the 100year old roof is still holding on fine (!)
The news sites always show people out in this weather...with umbrellas!?? How can you get to adulthood without realising umbrellas+wind=NO?
Not too bad here just north of Glasgow but we have decent shelter. Firsty from the Kilpatricks to the west then higher houses in the next street upwind. In the garden feels like a gusty 20-30mph but obviously higher winds on treetops on nearby higher ground.

I'm in a sheltered valley near the Tweed Valley (Stow, in Wedale for the locals) It's fine here. Quite windy, one wheely bin has gone over but that's it.
Just heading off for a run in the Moorfoots to see how windy it is on the tops. I will be avoiding the woods though, I remember the damage Arwen did and I've no desire to be in the middle of that if we get a repeat, but so far no sign of it being anything like, not even had the power drop off yet.

I'm currently sitting in the middle of the peak. It's horrendous.
Made it home from the hospital. Few trees down on the road (not big ones) and the car got tw*tted by a not tiny airborne branch but doesn't seem to have damaged it. Installed in the gaff with recovering wife and a rattled wide eyed cat.
The sustained wind here in Edinburgh is not too extraordinary, but every minute or so a gust hits the house and it sounds like a train has hit it. Kind of exciting! Doubt we will see any damage but doubtless others will. Hope my shed renovation isn't expedited.

Shropshire felt very windy earlier on, had to call the Police on the local motorway as a huge branch was blocking the outside lane of the motorway causing all kinds of swerving etc from people doing 70+ mph
I have to say.... ****ed roof and paralleagrammed shed not withstanding I'm counting our blessings a bit - at what is probably the peak of the winds here (I hope) the current low tide looks an awful lot like high tide. So things would have been pretty bad if the tide had been in just now.
North North Yorkshire here, just outside the dales. Lost a ridge tile (long sandtoft type thing) which took out some tiles on the way down. Very, very windy. Has to be easily 70mph I'd say, possibly more.
Getting 55-60 mph gusts in the new town Edinburgh. Will see how it goes.

But that's the trouble with people, their expectations and the difficulties in predicting exactly where a storm will create its most powerful gusts. I'd rather forecasters erred on the side of caution and then if I'm tonked on the head by a falling tree, effectively going against advice, I can lay there breathing my last knowing it was on my terms. 🙂

Here in the Ilson Alps we've got blue skies and strong gusts - big twigs/small branches coming down. We're in the yellow wind warning today. Then a yellow ice warning for tomorrow morning. And a yellow rain warning for Sunday into Monday. Trying to find a gap in the weather to get a decent road ride in.

There's a eucalyptus tree with two main stems visible from my bedroom window which is at least thirty five years old. I think of it as the weather tree as if I wake up early on the weekend and it is a) visible and b) not moving around too much, it is probably worth rolling out of bed and remembering where I put my bike shorts. It's currently thrashing itself through an arc of up to 20 degrees in the worst of the gusts. The on line wind trackers say 45-65 mph around here. We appear to be getting away relatively lightly compared with further North and West and unlike the last named storm a few weeks ago we don't appear to have been cut off by fallen trees as yet..

my brother has lost a single tile from his roof but he’s a roofer so is enjoying a day off, I expect he’ll be plenty busy over the next few weeks repairing the damage to roofs in the area
@DT78 Around your parts always seemed to get the worst of the Southampton weather, from when I delivered to/near you, or speaking to colleagues. At least I hope you don't need to worry about your conifer type trees at the front blowing into the front of your place, given the wind doesn't look to be a south easterly!
Looks like my sis could be getting a battering in Leith and the buddhist retreat centre has already been freezing this winter.
The worst part about all this is downed trees blocking trails. Sure, they clean up the roads nice and quickly, but people need to get their priorities right.

For the record, it's just normal averagely windy in Cardiff, the only issue is that it's recycling day and rubbish is blowing around. I had to remove a vagrant 2l Pepsi bottle from our patio as it was blowing around in the eddies and making a noise.

Its odd that you've had 3 phone warnings, because as far as I know only one was sent out. However if I turn my phone on/off I get the same one repeated when it reboots (its possible you would get it by moving between masts/losing signal too?). You may also be underestimating the stupidity of the public. Various roads closed because of overturned HGV's! If trains operate in adverse weather and hit a tree/landslip we prosecute network rail / train operator but it seems we don't for drivers/hauliers.
It's wild in Innerleithen. Power is out, roof slates have smashed part of my patio and the hedge has snapped. There's trees down all over the tweed valley by the looks of the tree surgeon's running around removing them from various roads Not your standard windy day here ?

worse definitely passed now in South Lanarkshire, been out for a quick wander round house and not too much needing sorted, couple of gates needing rehung and our new gutters and downpipes that were fitted last summer need some remedial works done, guy is coming Monday to sort. Lucky escape, phew !
I'm just north of Kinross, just west of Fife. It is exceptionally windy. We have a tree down, but hung up on others, another is swaying and lifting the ground around it. Power is out too, with a bough from a tree plonked right on top of the local substation. The power cut map looks like a nasty rash right across Central Scotland.
The sound is getting pretty wearing. The weird thing is, at points it falls almost entirely still, and then goes full crazy seconds later.
It's utter chaos here in Berkshire.
The bin got blown over and our regular Thursday lunch ride had to be postponed 24h and done anti-clockwise for the second week in a row to avoid the headwind.
The roofers are already driving round putting fliers through doors.
Which is handy as at least 3 of my tiles are on the drive.
The previous owners of our place turned the fence at the side of the house into a gate*. That gate got ripped apart earlier and made the side of the house like a wind tunnel, which has now launched the shed upside down into the back garden. Cue a very ropey clear up operation, but I’ve still got 2/3rds of a shed upside down against the back fence as it’s still far too wild to get to various (many sharp bits).
I’m in Lenzie and it’s as strong right as I post this as it’s been at any point. Usually enjoy a storm, not loving this

A section of my neighbours fence blew down on to my drive narrowly missing my car, I’d only just sent a message to my wife saying I was about to move the car in case the fence went, with that level of premonition I’m off to buy a lottery ticket for tonight now too!

Just north of Glasgow. Neighbour lost part of his garage roof. Several trees down locally. Seems to be dying down a bit now. Had the dogs out for a pee. A very short one as there is nowhere that doesn't go close to big trees or within range of any flying roof tiles that come off.

All the trains cancelled of course, and I didn't fancy a bus rammed with feral vaping schoolkids, so I walked the 10km from Halifax to work in Bradford, stringing together footpaths and bridleways over the tops. One small tree down, couple of fences missing panels. The horror!
My folks just sent me a video of the new swimming pool in Helensburgh (firth of Clyde, near Glasgow) getting demolished! Roof completely gone, looks like whole building could be a write-off.
My dad (Helensburgh resident) called that one as soon as he saw it being built. Roof is/was the wrong way round
We now have multiple trees down. The chainsaw will see some action tomorrow. We have had the power out for over 6 hours. I got a notification saying it was back on, but it defo isn't. Called SSEN,.and they said "Oops, wrong fault marked cleared."

There’s another band of windy, wet weather coming in from the SW Sunday and Monday, about 25mph, gusts up to around 45mph. Nothing like as bad as last night, thankfully.
Watching the Beeb news earlier, and considering how much damage there was to buildings, and vehicles blown over, trees down, there were so few injuries and, AFAIK only the one fatality, so maybe the warnings actually made a difference.
I’m a sucker for a big storm, I’d love to do a storm chasing holiday, but a storm like Éowyn, while incredibly tempting, would probably make me stay somewhere safe.
We're still without power in the western end of Angus and the SSEN outage map is showing that there's a very long queue for the engineers to work through to fix things. There are so many locations out that I would be amazed if we have power before daylight tomorrow.
Just saw a local update, after an "earlier incident" police are on scene at one of the main local roads which has a bunch of trees on, purely to tell randoms with chainsaws to **** off after someone managed to cut a hanging tree down on top of someone else's car earlier.
Remember folks, trees are dangerous when wounded, if you don't know what you're doing it's best not to mess with it, especially when it's fresh.

The Helensburgh pool must be a mega design and/or build failure. Destroyed by wind 2 years after being built. Anybody knows the Clyde coast is exposed to any storm from the west.They can't blame an exceptional storm either. Not two years in a row. Almost exactly 1 year ago....
It is almost as if someone has said - that big huge overhanging roof. Let's point it west towards the prevailing winds where storms come from.

20 miles inland in Milngavie the damage was the worst I have seen from wind in 35 years. Three neighbours in my street lost parts of their garage roofs. A few houses which have survived everthing for 50 years lost ridge tiles. A few mature trees down. Numerous garden fences. In the Waitrose carpark the trolley sheds have mostly had their perspex roofs blown off.
We were in one of the Amber zones and escaped the worst of it. I expect there'll be a couple of trees down but most of the weaker stuff would have been taken out by Arwen and Babet. Of course, the constant felling (partly for rewilding) also exposed new wind-prone areas.
We've woken up to snow this morning...
