I think it might start to get a bit tasty through the afternoon and evening up around our house on top of a hill...

Calm as a calm thing here on top of my hill just now. Unfortunately thats exactly as forecast and it'll all be kicking off in the last hour or so. Should probably make sure the play house doesn't blow away, but would the kids really miss it...?

central Scotland, nothing currently, bit damp, but that's not unusual. As above this is exactly as forecast, with 80mph breeze to follow later afternoon into tomo morning. There is a real expectation of chaos later.

Raining but not windy here in the Borders.
Doesn't make any difference, we've no trees left now anyway☹

Getting blowy here but nothing exciting.

Fairly safe here in Manchester, we appear to be exactly in between the paths of the 2 storms this week so not hit hard by either.

I love windy weather though.

Anyway, Dudley and Eunice, really... they don't exactly sound like violent storms.
More like someone's elderly upper-middle class great-aunt and uncle around for a visit making everyone's life a misery.

3 days of wind from nearly 180 degrees of direction combining with loads of trees freshly exposed by Arwen & corrie... Here in the NE of England I'd best stock up the fuel for the genny and chainsaw!

Getting pretty wild out there already, I think it might just be a little worse than forecast!

Yeah, we're just south (outside Disley), but about a thousand feet up on the first hill the wind hits after whizzing across the Cheshire plain. Forecast for the SK12 postcode is gusts of 50mph +, but I assume that's down in the valley.

Best bring the dog's towel in from the hook on the stable door.

Central Scotland here too, fairly low-lying (45mtrs above sea level) and protected. It was much windier in the early hours of this morning than it is right now, so much so that I sacked off a pre-work bike ride. Met Office predicts winds to peak around 4-8pm for us so it's likely on the way.

Preparation has extended to removing the planter from the kitchen windowsill, that should be enough 🙂

I have the same affliction, which is probably beginning to annoy my girlfriend, who's actually from the West Midlands.

Fairly blowy here in Newcastle this morning. One fence panel has already come down. It had come down during Arwen, I'd fixed it as best I could (rotten post needs replacing, that can wait till the summer), and then it broke free again the other weekend 🙄

Lots of fences being mended around here at the moment - as a result of last weeks winds.

Yes, I just cycled to the post office and can confirm it is "quite windy" around here. Took me about 40 minutes to do the 3 miles there and 30 seconds home.

I'm in our new (to us) office in Bristol, it appears that strong winds generate a loud whistling noise throughout the open plan + the occasional loud bang from the roof, fun times.

Gates have been bashing off their stops since about 7am here in Houghton le Spring. Strongly suspect we'll lose our for sale sign again, but otherwise its not too bad. Went up onto the garage roof and changed the annemometer batteries earlier, so hopefully we'll get some proper data overnight.

I thought it was going to be worse in Scotland, but it seems that we're bang in the middle here:
Capture

Still, the wind is forecast to peak at 26mph gusting to 52 this evening. I think I remember reading that damage is exponential with wind speed, but 20 gusting to 40 is a pretty normal day here.

Starting to get a bit ‘blowy’ here on the Isle of Mull and expecting 50mph+ winds in the next hour is so. Everything’s well battened-down ‘cos if you leave stuff lying around it’ll end up in the sea! This winter’s been a bit of a shocker really - this is about the fifth or sixth ‘storm’ already this winter. They’re saying to people if they need to be somewhere else by the weekend then they should leave now due to expected ferry disruptions as there’s even stronger winds forecast for Sunday/Monday.

It was very windy during the night last night (Harrogate) - so much so it almost tipped over our rabbit hutch so I was out at 7am making a temporary shelter for them in the garage. It then calmed down for a bit but has started getting very wet and windy in the last hour.

I am in the north of the Scottish borders and it is VERY windy right now. If one more person doesn't close the communal gate properly I may be forced to deploy a passive aggressive note!

I walked to the shops a few minutes ago and secure half a dozen recycling bins that had wandered into the road.

Nothing particularly bad here but I'm worried about doing the school run friday morning. Looks like we are getting the brunt of it around then with 60knot average wind speed, really don't know if walking would be safe... edit, or rather, don't think it would be safe, but no real option to drive as end up parking a faitr distance from school anyway

I have just cancelled delivery and staff travel for Friday in Midlands and Southern England - Eunice could be rather 'interesting'.

In a meeting with Met Office earlier. They are suggesting Eunice will be upgraded to Amber soon enough for our area (Borders) due to combination of wind + snow = drifting

They also said Mondays storm has potential to become a named storm as well but too early to commit to that.

My boss has had power off in Salisbury for a few hours today -the power company called to check power was back on and suggest that they prepare for widespread power outage for the Weekend.

Candles, batteries and camping stove at the ready. 👊🏽

Edit: the Friday commute home may be 'challenging'. https://www.ventusky.com/?p=53.5;-3.4;5&l=gust&t=20220218/1600

My recycling bin has tipped over and its contents gone up the street again. I know it's mine: dog food trays and tins, oat milk cartons and far too many empty cans of IPA. I've put the damn things horizontal now seeing as bricks on the bins weren't working.

Flaming windy on the ride home from Manchester. Glad to get away from the buildings as you could hear stuff falling off. Ashton canal was really gusty, so had to watch speed. Peak canal was very tricky with side winds and quite a bit of it is elevated.

Tree debris everywhere.
