So I took a tumble and cut my knee quite deeply. No real bruising or swelling, it was a direct fall on a sharp stone so more like a knife wound.
Got stitches coming out on Friday and until then no biking or running. After that I have no idea?
What have others found it to be like after?
Straight back to cycling and running or is there still recovery and rest? Worried about knee splitting again and being back to square one.
If I suture over extensor surfaces- elbow, knee, where there is a lot of ‘pull’ on the wound, I advise 2 weeks before stitches out and use a thicker thread. As long as the wound has healed well when sutures removed, and doesn’t gape when you put the knee through normal flexion, you should be fine to get running and cycling.
Thick thread more like fishing line and did it Sunday so will be 12 days so near enough. Been trying not to flex the leg to maximise healing. It's still leaking a bit of clear stuff through the plaster and iodine patch but feel it's all good?
No long run Sunday but it kinda gives me hope for an event the following weekend.
When I broke my patella I had my stitches out after 11 days. I had been in a cast without movement though
