This is not anti BBC rant. I have no problem with anyone in their top ten earners even begrudgingly Steve Wright.

Except Stephen Nolan he is dreadful. his salary must be due to his NI shows, his 5live show is unlistenable. Is he some kind of media god in Northern Island that justifies him been the 5th highest paid presenter on the BBC. Yep

Everything in this arena pales into insignificance when faced with the inexplicable broadcasting career of Adrian Chiles

As soon as his voice comes on the radio I want to hacksaw my own ears off, set fire to them then hurl them into another dimension.

I was surprised to see Nolan so high up the list, never listened to him so I can't comment on his shows.

Interesting that Lineker and Zoe Ball had taken pay cuts but she's still paid double the next on the list and he's another 50% more.

The £150,000 a year for Nihal Arthanayake seems pretty good value for money. He’s the best broadcaster on the BBC by miles

@Binners I have to apologise I have a soft spot for Chiles it must be watching working lunch when was at Uni.

Initially I thought that Nihal was a bit of a token appointment I was probably biased from watching an interview he did with Soulwax when he was just starting out and he was terrible. He is really good and the diversity of guests he gets in and depth to which he interviews is brilliant. The Johnny Lyndon one had me in tears.

Agree about Nolan
As for Arthanayake - not for me but...each to their own.

I love Stuart Lee’s descriptions of Adrian Chiles. A speaking Toby jug filled to the brim with hot piss.

Interesting that Lineker and Zoe Ball had taken pay cuts

Or part of their salary is now paid via a Ltd company or even a different bbc department

The list of earners is somewhat skewed because it relates only to those employed directly by the BBC.
BBC Studios is a separate production company, whose presenters are not included in the list. And every time you hear "this was an Endemol production", well they're not included either.

I live in NI, and for some bizarre reason he is pretty popular here. He's got one of the biggest shows on the radio and can stir up a lot of noise.

Personally I can't stand him and would rather stick hot pokers in my ears than listen to him.

It's all irrelevant unless you see the numbers paid by Sky/ITV/Capital Radio for similar types of presenter.
TI believe that you earn vastly more money in the commercial world than at the BBC.

I was quite shocked to learn she still had a career

What is it she actually does? Something Radio 2 related, I presume?

Here in Northern Ireland, Stephen Nolan is one of those things that you just can’t possibly believe that anyone, anywhere can possibly actually listen to him. But they obviously do, depressingly.
