Just been put on them by my Doc, 40mg ones.
Potential side affects seem quite bad 😥
Anyone on or been on them?
Why were you put on them?
(numerous targets)
you may have hardly any side-effects.
I have high cholesterol but he rest of my risk factors are low so I did not go on them. It should not be the first line of treatment anyway IMO
Cholestrol was the reason - bad cholestrol is usually around 3, mines was 4.2.
both parents went on them.
they were early 60's, apparently healthy, active-ish, happy.
within a month they turned into achey miserable old people.
Statins are evil.
I understood around 4.0 was bang-on?
Mine is 4.1, and I suffer from high blood pressure but my Doc has never mentioned high cholesterol to me. UK average is 5.5ish.
A while back someone posted a link to a book "The great cholesterol con", which makes a good case for cholesterol being protective against heart attacks and directly correlated to longer life. The author makes the point that statins have no demonstrable benefits for females whatever, and none for males who haven't already had a heart attack. The populations with the lowest cholesterol (bushmen) also have the lowest life expectancy - about 35 years

Doc said my other risk factors were low - non smoker, regular exercise, normal weight, infrequent drinker, no hereditary issues.
Do some research then - if your other risk factors are low why are you on them?

An alternative view of Statin drugs
If your other risk factors are low you should question your doctor's rationale for putting you on Statins very carefully.
Malcolm Kendrick identifies the highest risk factor as stress
There is guidance about when you should go on statins - when risk of cardiovascular disease goes over t a threshold Uses calculators such as these http://cvrisk.mvm.ed.ac.uk/calculator/calc.asp
If you are fit, non smoker with low bloodpressure I really doubt the need to be on them
