I couldn't find the last thread, sorry.
I've now got an Ikea job with the manual handle (kind of regret that now as it's a small faff) and a different shallower desktop that's 60cm deep; I had to trim the supports by about 5cm, drill some holes and use my own screws.
But my feet hurt quite quickly on the hard floor. Any tips? MTFU, shoes, an expensive rip-off "specially designed" mat from Amazon?
I purchased a set of these after trying to stand all day without anything.

They're great. Also I've donated some of the leftover pieces to other floorstanders who have also found them really comfortable. I appreciate the exact ones are no longer available but I hope the idea is sound.
Cheers and good luck,
I stand on an old yoga matt. I tend not to wear shoes when stood up at the desk as I found it tough on my lower back.
I've often noticed on music videos of bands on stage that they bring their own carpets to stand on...
eg a rather overweight Toto...
I wear Birkenstock clogs for slippers 'cos they've got arch support. They're pretty comfy to stand up in too. On the floor I've got a plastic carpet protector (~1m x 1m) which my desk chair rolls about on.
I find that some days I can stand up all day whereas others I have to sit down after an hour or so
Currently a sheepskin rug over laminate/concrete, don't wear shoes. My hips are killing me though 😐 so I am contemplating a standing mat of some kind.
I stand on a square of cheap gym flooring on wooden floorboards. No shoes. Even my Hoka trail running shoes were less comfy than bare feet after a few hours.

These mats are super thin, they are just what I had spare and seem to work for me. I’d probably go for a more substantial gym floor mat if I were buying new.
I have one of these over carpet: https://amzn.eu/d/cyRHXE6
I tend to either stand in barefoot or my 'slippers' which are actually a pair of loafers with proper soles and inserts that I only wear indoors.
old School tradesmen had this figured out, the problem isn't really so much, how soft what you are standing on is, it's because all the pressure from your weight goes through the same small points of your feet which effects bloodflow. They used to make up duckboards to stand on, but make them of the roughest most uneven wood you can, not square and not level and make sure they flex a bit, it means every time you stand on the board yo get pressure on different parts of your feet and you'll keep moving them around subconsciously. I'm sure someone somewhere will have made something expensive and prettier you can buy that does the same thing.
My Birkenstocks do work quite well actually.
Are you taking your weight on your heels or the balls of your feet? Try the latter for a while to see if it makes a difference, as it allows more freedom of movement in the leg joints.
I’m stood on carpet and in slippers with a bit of a padded sole. I don’t tend to stand stationary that long though - I vary up foot position - sometimes quite wide apart with the desk a little lower - sometimes stood normally etc.
Interesting question, can see the benefit of @mahowlett 's point. In that vein, for, ironically, sitting at my standing desk I use a 'wobbly stool'. Helps a great deal.
For standing, as with others, Birkenstocks on carpet. With socks, of course.
We have hard flooring and I just wear my crocs.
I alternate between standing, sitting and standing stool depending on the activity and time of day.
I'm stood all day in safely boots and generally move around quite a lot. My job this week has me standing in one place most of the day. We have anti-fatigue mats which do make a difference but by the end of the day my feet are pretty sore.

I move around a lot so it's all sorts.
On the "wobbly is best" front, have a look at MBT shoes. I used to wear these at work after getting sore feet from walking/standing around too much. They did seem to make a difference (and you'll develop lovely calfs).

Woah, mega flashback to apprentice days 🙂
Mrs FH uses two layers of Yoga mat when she's standing, but prefers using a fixed height desk and an operator chair ,rather than an adjustable desk.
I’m sure someone somewhere will have made something expensive and prettier you can buy that does the same thing.
Like this? Interested, I can't even stand for an hour or so without feet getting sore
I use a wobble board, has done wonders for my balance.
