What's best ?

I have a spare iPad and iPhone so was swaying towards the ip camera route if they are any good ?

I need to cover 3 rooms
I'd want something that transmits sound
has decent night vision
Can be viewed on two monitors / devices
PTZ would be nice
Has to be user friendly for the anchor

What brands should I look at ? Which have a nice app ?

I was looking at d-link or trendnet

If it makes any difference I'm on Virgin with an Asus router

I got my brother a baby monitor with the breathing pad.

You can't sit and watch a CCTV feed constantly but the baby monitor is not intrusive in the background and will alert you if there are any issues. Could you tell from CCTV if your child had stopped breathing?

We have a summer "something or other" video monitor, one of the best buys for the wee fella. Good day and night vision. The abiility to see what he is up to during a a cry/moan to see if he will stay settle without potentially diturbing him by going into the room is excellent. Didnt bother with the pressure mats / other sensors, think you'd end up paranoid.

As for using ipad/phone etc, seems an expensive baby monitor. Could sell them both, buy a monitor and use the spare money on some toys for yourself 😉

We have one of these BT Baby Monitor 1000 We have found it great. You can buy extra cameras and have up to 4 monitored from the same device.
Not sure about if they work with multiple monitors though.

I wouldn't trust an IP camera, but I work in IT and have a general distrust of the security on such devices.

^^^ this.

Don't bother with the IP camera, no point. Just the pad that beeps when no movement within a certain time is all you require (if you even require that..).

Cheers guys, we already have an angel monitor pad so that's covered

The main problem I've had is that most kits only have one monitor and it would be ideal to have 2 (one for me and one for the anchor)

I have found a summer infants system that has 2 monitors but it only works with one cam and I need 3

You'll be using the camera for far longer than the pad as soon enough they're rolling around and all sorts. Camera also used to check orientation and the like...

On the 3 cameras thing I have one (not sure of make and at work currently) that lets you scroll between multiple cameras. Can look it up if you have no joy.

Aren't these video baby monitors picked up by some Russian website and transmitted for the whole world to see?

I've found this.....

Normal baby cam with monitor and up to 4 cams but can connect to WiFi via a bridge...

[img] [/img]

Bit expensive but fits the bill I guess

Only the ones that are not protected. Secure it properly and you're ok.

Looks like that Russian website is down now but I'm sure others will pop up in its place... I shall make sure I change the default passwords 🙂

We want a cam as sometimes we are to far away to hear the kids (in the garage on the turbo) and it would be great to see aswell as hear so we don't unwittingly wake a child by checking on them, also our 3 year old likes to play a little when we put her to bed (play includes drawing on the walls, hitting her sister, suffocating her sister, banging on the window..ect)

Do you have to cover the three rooms at the same time? I use a Baby Ping monitor with an iPhone app. It does sound, night vision and is viewable by more than one device. It can just be unplugged and moved. I paid £95 for mine but you may be able to pick one up SH.
