I have a handful of pre-barcode 1st and 2nd class stamps that I need to use up before they're worthless. I want to send a couple of postcards to friends in the US. The post office website tells me that the international letter rate is (from?) £1.85. Can I use the stamps I already have?
"Back in the day" stamps had a monetary face value, so you could just add up until you met or exceeded the postage rate. Can I still do that with stamps that just say "2nd" on them, maybe stick three on and job jobbed?
Yes you can. 2nd class still have a value (currently 68p), just whack them on. I think non barcoded stamps are OK until January at least.
Perfect, thank you.
