has anyone else come across this strange monopoly of stair lift repairs, im currently trying to find a company to service my very elderly parents stair lift but no one except the original installer will touch it ?? thing is they want a 2 year service contract 1st year paid in advance of any service or repair as my parents are well into there 90s were not looking for service contracts just sensible repair costs .

What area of the country are you in

Wot got me was that when the g/f's grandparents moved from a house to a flat, we asked the stairlift company if they wanted to recycle it (ok it was a couple of years old but worked fine).
Nope not interested, but would happily charge a fortune to remove it.
