I am chef/Patron of a small restaurant (took over 1 month ago), today was new menu launch and my assistant chef resigned by letter left on door step. this is after no word yesterday when we were working and planning todays new menu and relaunch- on top of this she has gone to work for the chef who was asked to leave when i took over -he instructed here to take books and over stuff which she did at 7am this morning and then they (well some one) ordered £400 pounds of burgers to be delivered by pretending to be me ?
Now do i go a give him a kicking ? smash her car windows and tech them not to nug me off? or do i pour waste fat and fish guts over there new place of work or do i leave it move on and use my energy more wisely?
The old me would give them a kicking and pour shit over them ??

Well....you probably can't do the latter now you have mentioned it on a public forum.

Make them into the best gourmet burgers in town and sell them cheap and advertise them to local business and lunchtime trade. Call them the "insert chef's name" burger and when people ask why you can explain it to them. A story like that backed up with a good product will create a buzz and provide good free word of mouth advertising.

That's what I'd do anyways.....

Move on, use the energy to make your place a success. If you are losing sleep and getting stressed you lose. Replace her and move on.

Request return of books etc or you will report her for theft! They may end up straight back on the doorstep.

Just noticed you are in Sussex...where is the restaurant and how is the new menu? Is it a 'bit posh' or suitable for MTB Club Xmas parties?

Have you had any consultants in to look at the business recently?

Seriously, though, success is the best revenge. You've managed to shed a couple of poorly-motivated members of staff, so it's an opportunity to get in some fresh new talent.

Good luck with your menu launch. Surprised you've got the energy to come on here!

Steak Tartare.

Sounds like you're best rid, ask for the books to be returned so you don't have to report to the police and her new boss about stolen property, do what others have said and sell the burgers out cheap as a promotion as street food.

Ha ha i used to work for Gordon so i know all about his motivational techniques , we are in Yorkshire not Sussex and yeah we are posh , I rang the restaurant and told the manager where they work"this stops now or we will get the police involved - legal advice has been sought and if he wants to play the silly bugger we will put the word round town and ruin them " The property was returned at 11:30pm last night , My supplier has lost out by mincing 30 fillet beef burgers

You know they've done wrong, if you act silly you take yourself down to their level. Short term hassle I'm sure but long term will work in your benefit.

No need, you've already put the shit up them. By the sounds of what you've written, although they've tried to drop you in it on a big day, in the long run, it's a positive.

I notice you're local to me!

Yeah you've already won, now you'll get the opportunity to try a few candidates out and pick a much better assistant.

And you can be pretty sure the pair's new emplyer will be already have a question amrk over their future. I sure as hell would!

Done. You got the best result and they look stupid, I bet the supplier won't be interested in using them now too.

Did they technically steal from you when they took books and other stuff?

Why did they feel the need to take revenge on you, with the burger order? Or was it just spite?

All this go round and give them a kicking lark is a bit daft, just end up getting nicked and possibly going away

Also you might end up getting the worst of it, just because you initiate it doesn't guarantee coming off better

Its real life not an episode of The Sopranos
