Meanwhile, in Middle Earth, dozens of pizzas remain undelivered.

The guy on the bike looks like the village idiot, the people chasing him are probably the local bumpkins that have had a few beers and fancy a fight, and then somebody's added the distressed children in for added effect.

Government cutbacks, childrens faces, that article has it all. It's just a normal day for a lot of places in the southwest!

Did anyone else notice one of the men giving chase go flat on his face, all that video needs is the Benny hill theme put over the top of it.

My mate lives in St Ives on the hill overlooking Porthmeor Beach, he leaves the town on Bank Holidays and the first two weeks of August.. Says once the school holidays kick in it’s pretty much full of morons.

And the nearest police station is the other side of Hayle... with 2 Police covering all the west coast down to Sennon from Hayle... blame Maybot.

The scooter-dwarf unpacked a badly out of tune harp and started busking on the corner outside the Zion Community Church?

Does he have mental health issues? How were you able to tell?

It looks to me that he has don't-give-a-shit-about-other-peoples-safety-or-property issues.

I suspect that the two aren't mutually exclusive.

I suspect that the two aren’t mutually exclusive.

....and neither are they correlated.

You can be ill  or be a dick or neither or both.

My reading of that situation is dick only, making him a legitimate target of mockery.

YMMV

On what basis, you know him?

Having watched the video it appears to be a nasty combination of angry mob vs. frightened rabbit in the headlights harpist. It doesn't make for pleasant watching. Trying to pull his helmet off and thus strangling him is a particular highlight of idiocy.

Unfortunately people tend to get a bit irate when their cars get damaged and the guy is clearly scared.

I do laugh at these people who think rather than actually trying to calm things down / get things sorted they think that videoing the incident on their phone is much more useful.

Yeah unpleasant watching. By the way he was dressed and the things strapped to his bike and how he kept repeating the same thing I had the impression he may have had mental health issues.

Anyway, altogether uncomfortable watching, not least because it was filmed in portrait.

So this is the other side of the story, copied & pasted from Facebook -

From the moment I saw the bike video, none of it made sense, because I have known Alan for a long time and it was so out of character I went to ask him his side of the yarn. He is not homeless, he doesn't drink and he doesn't do any drugs. Prides himself on it. He had offloaded his panniers on his usual busking pitch by the lifeboat station when a car went past & scraped it. The driver got out and sucker punched him in the eye. He did what the police have always advised him to do, and took off. He says he realises he was panicked and is profoundly sorry if any other cars got damaged as he made his escape. By the time he got to the other side of the harbour he was terrified, because he had a crowd following him. It is up to you whether you believe his version of events, but he has been playing his harp on the harbour every summer for 40 years without without any trouble, and I have no reason to doubt his version of events.

i live the other side of the peninsula from st ives, i can add some comments.

i hadnt seen the info that princejohn posted and i have no idea if its true or no, but that aside it makes a lot of sense. as soon as the tourists descend the roads get insane down here, its like many people literally forget that Cornwall shares the same road rules as the rest of the uk. it is not unusual for cars to stop on roundabouts and across junctions to check their satnav or map, and any road that passes a view guaranteed someone will slow or stop to put their phone out the window and take a pic. i am not kidding it happens a lot. indeed this last weekend a freind was posting on facebook about a woman who had gone loopy cutting infront of cars to beat the carwash que at the supermarket.

cornwall live and the weekly rags the group publish are the most trashy piles of cheap tabloid sh"t you can imagine. they are not journalists just cut and paste merchants. the editors (sic) totally ignore fact just to create a headline, recently they ran a story about 'slave workers' that ignored a very simple fact that all the alleged slaves went to the police to demand their boss was released and as they were not slaves but happily employed workers with great facilities and regular fairly paid work.

finally st ives, what a foul place. its as bad as newquay but just has more cash.
