- The Beach, the cathedral... anymore.
No bikes 🙁 holiday.
There is not a lot extra to see or do in the conventional touristic sense in Pembrokeshire. It's all about lazing around on the best beaches in Wales, or coastal walks to see some of the most spectacular rock formations plus lazing around on any beaches you pass by, and lazing around in pretty pub gardens.
You could throw in a boat trip to one of the islands to look at seabirds and seals, I guess.
There must be something to do.
For a bore like me, I guess there must be some archeological in the area. Neolithic all the up WW2 etc.
Is the castle worth a look ?
Great ice cream near the cathedral:) That'd be at least a once a day activity for me.
When the kids were a bit younger, we walked the coastal path using the buses to get us back when they were tired. The (two) RNLI stations are well worth a poke around. Other than that, my memory is doing (10 and 12 year old) kid things so probably not that relevant!
Whitesands Bay is quite nice.
Quite popular for surfing and that kind of thing back then.
Was our holiday destination for years when we were kids as my grandfather had a caravan there. He was stationed there after the war and loved the place.
Rib trip out to Ramsey Island was always fun.
There's a really strong current just off the island where the sea has a kind of step in it.
Most odd.

Well, if you're a dull man, there are some dolmen scattered about. 🙂 Yeah, Pembroke Castle is worth a visit. You could visit St Govan's Chapel which is tiny but in a spectacular setting.
Then go for a wander into the Castlemartin ranges and poke stuff with a stick.

I remember this, really knocked the rib about crossing it. My wife was not impressed. Kids loved it though.
Solva for some kooky art galleries & Solva mill if you like that sort of thing - I have a wife who knits so I have weaned myself into such things 😄
+1 for coastal path walk, pub & return by bus - our favourite is Solva to Newgale but I'm guessing at David's to Solva would be just as good - just research the bus timetable first...
Go coasteering - the best way to see the coastline and the geology. Lots of SUP and sea kayak guided options too.
Check out the PCNPA website for events and guided walks.
Boat trip around Ramsey Island - wildlife, geology and history galore.
Use the coastal bus services or flecsibus to walk sections of the coast path - St Davids Head to Abereiddi is spectacular day out. Or Whitesands and head south to St Justinians then round to Porth Clais and St Nons. Or head north to Strumble Head.
Head into the Preselis and go to Carn Menyn to see where the Stonehenge rocks originate from. Head into Tycanol Woods for some proper ancient deciduous woodland and go to Pentre Ifan for a cracking burial chamber.
Cafes, icecream (Pointz Castle) and microbrewery beers.
Book some seakayaking with one of the local providers, why go for a ribride when you can paddle round and ge the full curent experience.
I found a wife at St David's youth hostel...but it's not guaranteed. And if you already have a wife it's probably not of interest to you.
Definitely a boat trip. Depending on the time of year there is lots to see. You can either just do the boat bit or get out on an island. Both options are great. Ramsey Island has an easy 3 peaks challenge which is very nice.
Lots of stunning coastline around. There are a few castles dotted around but I don't recall any particularly close to St Davids but whatever you do I suspect you'll be out in the car a bit anyway.
I used these guys for coastering, was about 15 years ago but was excellent.

Castell Henllys, about 25 miles from St Davids is a reconstruction of an Iron Age settlement. Haven't been for a few years but it was interesting to visit when we went there.

The Bitches. Created by a very strong tidal race.
It's a famous kayaking spot. Deffo get a rib out there and catch some air off the waves.
You can’t go wrong with any section of the Pembrokeshire coastal path. It’s stunning!
You can walk down the coastal path to Solva, I think it’s about 9-10 miles, have fish and chips at the fantastic chippy overlooking the harbour, couple of pints in the pub next door, then jump on the bus back to St David’s
Take binoculars and Field guides for birds and cetaceans.

Username checks out - Bill, is that really you???
This is a handy resource: Wales Coast Explorer App - Pembrokeshire Marine Code
The Fig and Mascarpone ice cream at the bench ice cream cafe is worth trying!
Aberieddy and walk over to Porthgain is a nice trip, lots of interesting industrial archaeology amongst spectacular scenery. Pint and some chips in the sloop and walk back.
The 'new' RNLI station is amazing and the bloke doing the meet and greet is super informative and really nice. I could have spent all day in there.
It’s mainly been said but i think it’s a fab place for a holiday. Cornwall with less people. If you are a climber there are lots of spectacular but not that hard routes. Coast path is as good as it gets for walking. White Sands and Newgale for surfing. Sailing from Solva. Lots of good boat trips. Great road cycling
The boat trips that land on Skomer will be booked up by now (and getting late for puffins) but yes boat trips are good.
+1 plenty of neolithic stuff to look at.
Carn Ingli is an interesting walk from Cwm Gwaun side and near to Pentre Ifan.
Do have a look at Flecsi bus and where it can get you.
A day walking around Marloes Sands, Deer Park / Martins Haven and a lunch at Runwayskiln is nice.
Easily 7 days of fabulous walking in the area.
And if you already have a wife it's probably not of interest to you.
Hold on a minute. Let's not jump to any conclusions!
