As I understand it, they rely largely on tourists and import pretty much all raw materials and fuel - 2 years of Covid and then then the recent price increases have decimated them
Mismanagement and corruption may not have helped of course

I won't wish the ills of a few on a whole nation of people.
I agree that the government there are responsible for a lot of the situation, and appalling treatment of people. It is they that should be held responsible.
