I've got a camera in a bird box in my garden, and yesterday I noticed it was offline. On closer inspection a squirrel (I assume - there are plenty of them about) has chewed clean through the cable.
New cable on the way, but how can I stop the next one going the same way? I'm looking at cable conduits like this but they seem at the same time a bit over the top and also like they'll get chewed through too:
Does anyone have an actual experience of chili spray or something keeping them off?
Paging WCA for squirrel advice...
Being more serious, squirrels will chew threw plastic conduit with no effort.
Am it right in remembering chilli is a good deterrent for squirrels  - bit of chilli oil on anytime they might chew perhaps. If not then e at least got two of the ingredients for a stir fry.
Baco foil sometimes works for tree rats 😉
After an extremely expensive incident recently with a mouse and my car fuel line, I've been spraying a peppermint scented repellant stuff round the engine bay. No idea if it works, but it smells lovely.
Squirrel chewing stuff? That's nuts!
(sorry)
Squirrels are known to raid bird nests so it would make sense for them to disable CCTV to a bird box.
They are right bastids.
