I appreciate it's possibly a piece of string length question, but will a squeaky wheel bearing last 3000 miles?
Just wondering if I need to get it done or whether it can wait until the next service.
You want to listen to a squeak for 3000 miles? 😯
Pervert.
I'd monitor it and see how it goes. If it gets worse then get it done. Also, if it's going to be 3000 relatively local miles then I would risk it more than if you had any big or important trips coming up.
Well, it could last for 5,000 miles or more.
On the other hand, it could result in an exploding fireball of death yards from your front door, so the choice is yours.
Of course you could just lob some oil in there every ride so the squeak doesn't squeak and forget about it
on your car? front or back?
if its a wheel bearing, and you've already done 3k its probably time to sort it.
BUT, are you sure its a wheel bearing, it could be a brake related. warped disc, crap on a pad, sticky caliper etc. not a big deal. but worth checking out.
Yeah, on car, well, van, T5 natch 😉
Pretty sure it's the bearing on the offside front.
My offside rear started to squeak leaving Brighton on a run to Derby, on the way back about 400miles later, 5miles from Brighton it made a clunk, limped it home and it had basically reamed itself out and once on ramps at the garage had loads of lateral play, so I would say get it looked at.
