[Closed] Square shape down bag?

If you are car camping why down? Surely it's one great advantage of warmth to size and weight ratio isn't relevant. And as that is its biggest advantage it seems unlikely that manufactures would then use down and add weight and size by making it rectangular.

When we carcamp we take the duvet.

It works really well

We had one years ago but it finally wore out. My wife really doesn't like the mummy style but much prefers down.

Seems harder than i thought - don't really want a cheapo one, or one that is 'shiny' inside

The 'shiny inside' is usually because you need a more down-proof fabric so the feathers don't leak through.

Like avdave said, if it's car camping you're probably better off with a decent quality synthetic bag - weight and compressability are the main advantages of down which you need less if you're travelling by car.

yeah seen a few ultralight quilts but not really what we are looking for.

Don't really want synthetic as down isn't just a  weight/bulk thing but is also far nicer to sleep under. Plus the bag will also need to be reasonably compact for transport in luggage when travelling abroad

I'm pretty sure I've seen others, but can't remember where. I'll have a think. The problem you have is that mostly down gets used when weight to warmth is your number one priority, but rectangular bags are slightly at odds with that.

Edit: VauDe does a couple, not cheap, but a good brand and you'll know the down has been ethically sourced.
