Just painted up a new nearside wing for the wife's C-Max, that I'll hopefully fit at the weekend. Painting went well, although its the first time I've done it. I took it slowly, with lots of sanding and wiping down between coats. Just a final go with very fine graded wet and dry, some light cutting compound then a polish, and then I think its ready to go on.
Except for: how do I know if I need to add a coat of lacquer? Is there an easy way to tell?
If it's a metallic you'll definitely need a coat of lacquer.
is it metallic? if it is, then yes. if it's a solid colour, then no. as a rule of thumb
Ok, cheers. She tells me its metallic, so lacquer it is. Thanks!
Laquer should go directly over the final colour coat when it has only just tacked off.
