I'm getting these emails - before I give them information [that I can't really see that they need] I thought I'd ask if this a thing?
Why do they need to know?
Confirm credit card details maybe?
Maybe, but I've had the family sub for >3 years with the same payment method - so why now?
Perhaps try logging into your account directly from the app or website rather that the email to ascertain if it is a genuine request or not?
As for why now, perhaps in the three years you’ve been a subscriber there terms & conditions &/or internal processes have changed, perhaps those of your payment providers have & they now require a match between payment & payee…
You sure it's not a phishing campaign? We have premium family sub and I'm not getting any emails, and can't recall ever getting anything like that. What happens if you go in through the website/app? Any notifications? Maybe just contact them to confirm it's them and ask why they need this info. Could be a country based licensing thing.
New terms and conditions for "users at same address".
I had it last year.
We lied.
My ex, my BiL and my FiL all live at my place now.
You sure it’s not a phishing campaign?
That's what I was wondering but...
Well it's a thing..... !
From the website:
Spotify Premium Family is available for up to 6 family members who live at the same address.
Why do you need my address?
We ask for your address to confirm that the family members you invite to your plan live at the same address. The address provided by the plan manager is saved to the plan member’s account and can be updated at any time. How we use your address
We use the Google Maps address search to help the plan manager find their address, which is returned to us as a set of location coordinates. We then ask the family members invited to the plan to confirm they live at the same location by finding and confirming their address with the Google Maps address search.
We do not store any coordinates once the verification check is completed. Addresses entered in the address field are subject to the Google Maps
Maybe but, although possible, it can be a PITA I think,
Before the family sub was a thing we had 2 or 3 separate subs shared between 5 of us - music continually stopped playing with a message saying that the account was playing on another device.
The whole idea is that it is mobile so the device location is fairly immaterial.
My spotify account was hacked and was being used in a few places (Chile, Argentina) and had a spate of emails from Spotify. Might be worth checking where your account is being used and what apps are connected to it, then resetting all those details and logging out of all sessions and renew your password
