Does anyone know of a good sports physio that they would recommend in the Manchester area?
I have been suffering from terrible knee pain in my right knee recently and have had to cut my last two rides short because of it.
Its only caused by cycling and comes on quite suddenly but once it flares up it affects everything. I can barely walk up my stairs tonight, and had to walk (limp) my bike home today.

Understandably I would like to see a professional about it and see if I can get it sorted.

Google is your friend, most physio's should be able to at least help. It may not be due to a sporting injury, especially if the pain is that intense. So as I sad, as long as you see a medical professional then don't worry so much as to if they are a bog standard physio or sports physio. If you can afford it perhaps book a private consultation with an orthopaedic surgeon to have it imaged.

Jonathan Gaul at "Swinton physiotherapy" is very good. He has sorted my knees out on a number of occasions. You just need to google it as I haven't worked out how to post links from an iPad yet!

Ok thanks, I have no idea about these sort of things as I have never used one, and just assumed that a sports specialist would be necessary as it seems to be caused by cycling.
Some places I have googled suggest that I can get a referral through my GP which I didn't realise.
Suppose that will be my first port of call.

*edit*

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I will look those up.

If it is not too far Matt @ Marple Physio (In Marple), brilliant sorted Daughter with her knees, son with an ankle he picked up while playing rugby & my various ailments. Good sound advice, reasonable price & to top it all he is a mountain biker.

I can suggest Amanda here at BodyZone http://www.bodyzonetherapy.co.uk/ She's looked after my weary body for a few years! Very good, knowledgeable and good prices too! She's head physio for Stockport Rugby Club! She's based in Cheadle Hulme / Stockport.
