Looking for a set of sports headphones, mainly for gym/rower, so not looking for running specific or HR monitor or anything. I'm a sweaty bugger, so the type that go over the ear to secure appeal.

Budget is around £60 but would stretch to £100 for something outstanding.
Ideally wireless, but would accept wires for better sound quality.

Quick search suggests STW hive mind leant towards Plantronics BackBeat FIT. Is this still the case? For those that bought them a year or two ago, did they last?

I got these yesterday - a gift from the wife - so I've got no long term feedback. Used them on a 10k run today and couldn't fault them. If they last 6 months I'll have had my money's worth

I've just had to replace my Backbeat Fits as a faulty USB lead melted the charging port. I think they were 3 years old which is longer than any other pair of sports headphones has lasted for me. The replacement was another pair in a different colour. On the other hand they might not be any good in a gym as they don't block out external noise (a good feature when outdoors IMHO) and in my experience gyms invariably have loud and crap music.

Good point. My gym is very loud, so need to consider this

I used my plantronics backbeat go t'day (for the first time in ages) and despite being on charge for a few hours they gave up the ghost after less than 90 mins so i've just ordered a pair of those Betron up there ^, Cheers

These Anker bluetooth headphones have been doing me proud for the last few months. They've not had a wet+cold+sweaty winter run yet though

What about those Sony Walkmans built into the headphones? It means you don't need a separate MP3 player anyway. You can get the 8GB version for about £80. http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/audio-and-headphones/audio/ipods-and-mp3-players/sony-nw-ws414b-8-gb-waterproof-all-in-one-mp3-player-black-10143735-pdt.html
I'm thinking I might get one for running.

*watches with interest*

I've been meaning to post a "what headphones* thread for ages after I finally killed my late 80s Aiwa Pipephones a couple of months back. Aside from daily listening I want them to run with, which means I want to hear what's around me. Audio quality is paramount as is sweat- / weather-proof, and BT preferable. I also don't want to be stopping every 100 yards to put the buggers back in after they've shifted loose (which was my only complaint with the Aiwa's, I've not heard a better set of modern earphones which is why I never replaced them.)

Received mine this morning and been using them all day - very secure in my ears (once i changed the small ear tips) and whilst the sound quality/build quality isn't anywhere near my wired RHA T20i i can put up with a lesser quality for the sheer convenience of doing away with cables when out on the bike/dog walking etc, they offer a surprising amount of isolation at lower speeds but they do whistle a bit when the wind catches them.

Battery life seems decent, they've been used for 6+hrs t'day (i haven't charged them yet) and for the £25 the've cost me i'm suitably impressed.

I missed the Betrons on Amazon, but then found them on eBay for £11.99. no packaging but they appear to be brand new.

Used them for the first time walking to work this morning. Initial thoughts are they are comfortable and sound quality is reasonable. Not yet tried with background noise and will have to see what battery life is like, but they appear to be fantastic value.

I'm watching this with interest too.

I had a pair of JVC in-ear bluetooth headphones they lasted 4 weeks the charging port was on the actual ear piece rather than on the inline remote thing. I think that's where the sweat got in even though the cover was in place.

Currently on a pair of KS outrun head phone they have lasted 6 months however died last night after 30 min running. They were fully charged prior to run.

I wouldnt mind spending money on a decent set if i knew they would last.

I do a lot of running and always struggle to find a pair that stay in! Wife bought me the Bose Soundsport ones about 18 months ago and they are the best I have ever had.

Avoided the Bluetooth ones so far as I have an iPod shuffle but also its more faff keeping them charged and they are heavier for running so move about and are uncomfortable (the ones I have tried so far)
