My guess is most people who wear glasses to play sports are myopic (short sighted) and there are too many, too varied prescriptions to make an off the shelf solution like people do for reading glasses?  Even the reading glasses are a fudge - very few people have same prescription in both eyes but for reading a restaurant menu, etc it doesn’t matter.

there are places online who will make you glasses to suit your prescription, including various fancier lens shapes, types, frames etc.

I very much doubt you’ll find anything like that. As poly sez, there is no ‘one prescription fits all’ when it comes to glasses, especially when people’s eyes change as they age. There are plenty of sports frames that’ll take an Rx lens, but they are not going to be cheap!
Some frames have an extra sub-frame behind the main lens that’ll take the Rx lens, which, while not cheap by any means, will allow a fairly straight forward prescription lens to be fitted that’ll be cheaper in the long run.
Oakley M2/3 Si frames are full MilSpec, and can be obtained as a PPE frame with a very heavy duty clear lens for about £90, and it’s possible to get tinted lenses from Amazon for £20, and I think the secondary Rx mounting can be obtained separately, but as I no longer need a prescription, I haven’t looked. I have the frame, which I bought from mojoglasses.com and I’ve got a tinted polarised photoreactive lens that’s usually fitted, and a couple of other lenses as well.

The odd triangular bit in the centre of the frame is a clip that goes into a hole in the centre of the lens, to avoid the lens popping out under heavy impact, like shrapnel - they are full US DOD approved for armed forces use, the clear lens mine came with is over a millimetre, closer to 2mm. I’ve seen pictures of the supplementary Rx fitting, but it might be necessary to source it from the States, as they’re issued to military forces.

I have some 'ChOakleys' (fortunately without the 'O' on the arms) which have an RX insert which I had glazed to my prescription. The shape is still commonly available which gives me all the spare nose pieces/lenses/rubber arm grips.

Cost of the glasses were circa £20-£25 (with spares) and then getting the RX insert glazed. You will need it done to your prescription though due to all the variations. Otherwise you are likely to get headaches.

I couldn't find any when I looked and went with RX Sports. Expensive but good and with great customer service.

I have some Tifosi 'Rail' and some 'Podium XC' both take the same RX insert which I had glazed by one of the online outfits.

Far cheaper than Oakley, Rudy, Adidas, etc.

Most off the peg glasses are for reading. You won’t be reading doing sport. You can buy stick on lenses for reading correction to ordinary sunglasses but not vice versa. Just had some Rx inserts made up for my Koo’s. Not cheap but I have a complex prescription. If it’s just a standard tho lens with coating, budget about £200.

I wear monthly contacts now for cycling as glasses don’t fit under my TT visor. Still like inserts for other duties.
