Anyone had any experience of spinal stenosis?

I've been in a lot of pain over the last month or so in my buttocks and legs to the extent it's quite debilitating at times.  I can't really walk far at all (5 mins).  I went out cycling a few weeks back and while I was out it seemed fine.  Feels worse if anything when I'm in an upright position.

I've been referred to the musculoskeletal clinic through the NHS although I have no date yet and no diagnosis but the GP and physio have mentioned spinal stenosis based on the symptoms.

I'm pretty active usually although I do suffer from back problems occasionally, but they usually go within a few days.  This feels like it's here to stay .

Would appreciate any advice or experience people have.

As always.  Thanks.

My friend had an operation for it last year.

He's left with some permanent issues such as loss of sensation in his fingers and his walking is affected a little.

The operation has halted any further deterioration though and he is back at work.👍

I believe the issues are related to where the problem is, in the spine.
