Run away, run awayyyyyy!

actually, it was in the bath tub, but only about 12mm across, but I didn’t recognise it, (it wasn’t wearing a name tag), it’s legs weren’t as long as a house spider or a steatoda, so using the bug identification on my phone, which initially flagged it as steatoda, a deeper dig came up with Amaurobius fenestralis, a lace web spider. Which accounts for the messy, lacy webs I see around occasionally. I carefully evicted it from the bathroom, and it scuttled gratefully under the shed door.

No. Those horrors in my garage are a type of False Widow - the Cupboard Spider.

No! I’ve had Steodata in the house, it’s Amaurobius fenestralis, a lace web spider, this is a steodata…

Their abdomen markings are different.

Had a false widow (as per pictures and 2 witness statements) in my house last night - used my spider catcher to escorte it from the building.

I had a lady bust into our office last week - she had been walking up the corridor and swears she could hear the footsteps of a fekking massive spider which was sauntering the opposite direction, and so fled into our office for 'safety'. She literally hid behind the door when I went to retrieve the guest and relocate it to the back of the bin store....

I got bit on the big toe by a jumping spider on holiday back in june - just felt like an irritating mozzie bit for the first 24hrs, then it got worse and blistered up - not really painfull but didn't look nice.

It took weeks and weeks to heal though

Yeah, sorry about that, I would have cut and manicured them for the pic, but, swollen foot and all that! 😀

I had to rescue my strong independent soon to be off to university daughter from a wee spider the other night. Luckily a friend of hers is going to the same uni and is OK with spiders, so I won't have a 2 hour drive each way to deal with any!

I saw an absolute monster in my bedroom the other day - I should have taken a pic of it... it was an easy 3.5" diameter, possibly 4" including legs, obvs 🙂 )

Just found this little fellow on our stairs window sill, taken up residence in a 3.5mm headphone adapter, which he retreated into just after I took this photo.
