You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
So - my Dad recently got snapped by the police doing 36 in a 30, so has picked up a nice fine.
However in the letter he received from the fine people of the police, it was specifically stated that they would not be sending out a picture if requested.
Has there been a new law? As everything I can see online suggests that you can still ask for this evidence.
probably cost cutting innit - get it paid and slow the duck down.
No obligation to provide it unless you go to court, seems to work on a 'we say you did it, either accept and pay up or challenge it via the channels'. Although according to the link most forces will provide.
Just to be sure here. DID he do it? Do you need the photo to help him work that out, or are you trying to find a loophole out of it? Just trying to decide whether to get a large bucket of popcorn and my best lynching hat or not?

No lynching hat required - he did it. He's annoyed he did it & will pay up.
I was just curious about the refusal for them to send any evidence & we told you so, so pay.
They know he did it. He knows he did it. So what's the point in a photo?
As for a change in the law,
I'm not sure as there's ever been a requirement for photographic evidence. The hand-held laser guns don't have cameras as far as I'm aware.

I'd be surprised if they don't otherwise how do they record the registration and more importantly prove it in court.
I imagine they don't include the image to stop people arguing the toss rather than cost grounds, it's either stump up and keep costs low or if you want to be a dick about it see you in court where you will lose and pay a lot more money.
Same with people challenging PCNs on private land, loads of people seem to think if they argue it will get overturned, in reality the case law and systems are generally all in place to make sure it's all legal and enforceable, just because you don't agree doesn't make a jot of difference.
Maybe he just wants to see how cool he looks when speeding
Handheld speed guns don’t have cameras, the details get recorded by the cops who stop you. Static ones do, and while there’s no obligation to provide a photo at the offer of a FPN stage, many forces would just to help move things along. But if was stopped by actual human cops there won’t be an image.

because they stop you, and you give them your details.
or make a run for it...

The police don't need photographic evidence of lots of crimes. There's a trust element, if they see you in someone's house removing their telly they don't need to photo you, they have the evidence of their own eyes and in general they get believed because they're the police, after all.
I got snapped in Germany at 1am on my way to my hotel after an extremely delayed flight. Doing similar speeds. Great photo and I just paid the fine.

Lols? Bragging rights for your mates.
I had the misfortune to drive into Bradford last weekend. My god, I've never seen so many speed cameras! I'm dreading a ticket coming through. There's hardly any where I live and I know where they all are...

I have one of those somewhere. Hamburg Airport?

You could have stopped there. I go through maybe twice a year, sat nav never takes me the same way, always feel totally lost and the local drivers are all mental. Especially on a Friday night.
36mph - amateur! 🙂

I actually had a police car pull along side me wind the window down and ask if I was lost at a junction.
They continued to explain I was indicating so clearly wasn't local and given where in Bradford I was that meant I was probably lost.
I used to commute into Bradford on a daily basis and the standard of driving is appalling.
The local taxi drivers just do what they please - the rules of the road don't seem to exist in Bradford.
Bradford
So, as I'd never been before. Is that a normal amount of speed cameras? I've recently driven in Manchester, Sheffield, Oxford, Leicester and London, and at no time thought 'my god what's with all the speed cameras?'.
Bradford has a very very high youth speed rate so West Yorks safety cameras officers (gatso vans ) are in very high use on a daily basis,

Try to recoup as much money from the RS3 M3 AMG crowd that want to Appear on Interceptors as its a badge of honour.
And the hypocritic in me says 30 is the limit not a target 🙂

Shush! If you say that too loud around here you'll wake up the Driving Gods

If one is going to record one's first motoring offence in 35 years, it should be in style... Didn't notice the change in speed limit on the motorway filter road... I won't be bothering the authorities with foolish legal arguments either. And it was a CRV not a C63.
Photo is useful in the situation where it's a cloned plate.
Still never had a speeding ticket - must be getting quite a small % of drivers who have never had one after 30+ years of driving. Not that I don't speed, I just haven't been caught yet...

Stuttgart. I was snapped doing 30kmh in a 20kmh.

We bought a company based in Bradford and I was on the integration team, I was up there on a weekly basis for best part of a year. The driving still gives me PTSD flashbacks. The curry was bloody brilliant through!
